After Restore of Windows 10 System Partition: slow response/performance after waking up from sleep mode

Thread needs solution

Hello,

recently I restored an Acronis True Image 2017 backup  of my Windows 10 64bit (1703 build 15063.540) System partition using Acronis True Image Rescue media.

The Image was restored successfull to the same hardware/ssd-drive and Windows works fine after a reboot.

However, after a wake from sleep mode (hybernation is disabled), I always encounter strange behaviour of Windows 10, that were not present before the image restoration.

- slow and lag performance on anything, e.g. Open Windows explorer, runing any app etc

- slow/lag performance remains for ~2min before Windows responds normal but after some minutes, slow performance occurs again

- After wake from sleep I click Restart Windows and it takes 5-10 min until the actual reboot starts

- Sometimes I encounter BSOD ( kernel-data-inpage-error ) when Windows 10 tries to restart

- To resolve the issue, I had to restart Windows to get back normal fast performance.

So far, the following steps did not help to solve the issues:

1. Windows sfc /scannow

2. Windows Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

3. Windows Device Manager: Update drivers: The latest drivers are already installed

4. Boot Windows with Standard Microsoft Services enabled only, all Autostart-Programs were disabled.

5. After wake from Sleep Mode, Windows System Event log shows the following event:

Event ID 129 – storachi – Reset to device, DeviceRaidPort0, was issued

I followed the instructions from this blog  Storahci, ID 129, Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued - fix for Windows 10 Technical Preview

but that didn't helped.

6. Since I run monthly and daily image backups, I tried to restore a image backup created on a different date, but the symptoms described remains.

7. Complete Reinstall of Acronis True Image Home 2017 incl. Cleanup Tool did not help

Anyone encounter a similar behaviour of Windows 10 after the restore of Acronis True Image and found a solution?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Bodo

Bodo, I haven't seen any similar problems after doing a successful restore / recovery of a Windows 10 backup image and I haven't experienced any problems myself after doing this recently.

I would suggest trying an in-place upgrade of Windows 10 - 1703 by downloading the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft then creating the installation media for this build of the OS then following the steps shown in the following webpage:  How to Do a Repair Install of Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

This takes about the same time that it would have taken to upgrade Win 10 to the Creator's Upgrade when you did it.  The most important point is to start this process from within your running Windows 10 OS - do not boot from the install media to do this!

Like Steve, I have never experienced this problem, and I do not recall it being reported previously. I recommend that you try the reinstallation of Windows 10 by running the installation media from within Windows.

Hello,

Thanks for your suggestions.

I followed the in-place upgrade of Windows 10 - 1703 using Media Creation Tool but after a successfull installation the symptoms are still present.

- Systems works ok after a reboot

- After wake from sleep: System continously responds slow /hangs for minutes before getting back to normal followed again by slow response.

- Wake up Windows from sleep followed by a Restart takes serveral minutes (~5min)

- Windows System Event occuring: Event ID 129 – storachi – Reset to device, DeviceRaidPort0, was issued
