Anybody having issues access Acronis Cloud backups from WinPE?
I love the new WinPE recovery environment, especially the better NAS support, but for some reason my Acronis Cloud option shows up as empty after authenticating. Anybody else have a similar issue (or has anybody successfully accessed cloud backups from the new WinPE recovery setup)?

Thanks, Steve. These backups have existed for some time. I did run incremental updates to them after upgrading to 2018, but they show up just fine in the Windows client and the online dashboard, so not sure why they wouldn't also show up in the Win PE environment?
Edit: perhaps you're suggesting that it would take some time to populate the dialog box? The list shows "nothing to display". I didn't try leaving it for an extended period, but I'd think it would say something like "populating list" or similar if it were working on bringing down the list of backups.

Philip, it would be nice to think that you would see some informative text to suggest that Acronis was populating the recovery list or similar, but I suspect, based on other experiences with the rescue media, that it relies on users being patient and waiting for something to show eventually.
I noticed similar behaviour recently when using different versions of rescue media, where the older version put up a small graphic to show that something was happening, whereas the later version just left you wondering if it had hung!

Steve,
I gave it another try. I waited about 7 mintues with no change in the display. Also hit "refresh" to try again with no change.
I suspect this feature is just broken.
I logged a tech support case and the rep asked me if the cloud worked from the Linux RE, but it turns out that the Linux RE doesn't work at all on my system so I really need the PE version to work. I'll follow up on the case to let them know and will post back here with any updates. If anybody has a moment to try this themselves I'd be grateful for any additional data points.
Best,
Philip.

I have not tried it with the release version of the recovery media, but it worked perfectly for me with recovery media created for the beta version.
There could well be an issue with the recovery media; there are other reports of problems. May I suggest you create a support case of this issue, that is the only way it is likely to be fixed.
Ian
PS If I get a chance I will test it later today.

Thanks Ian. I have logged a support case and will keep this thread updated on any response. Would be grateful if you do get a chance to test as any corroboration that this extends beyond my specific situation may help to escalate the issue more quickly.
Best,
Philip.

Hi Philip
Created WinPE media (USB 3 stick) and had no difficulty in accessing backups on Acronis Cloud or my Synology NAS. I used the generic option without added drivers (cannot remember if it listed my two M.2 NVMe drives. It booted relatively quickly and got the cloud backup listing almost instantaneously. (I was accessing the Australian Acronis Cloud Server.)

Thanks Ian. Very puzzled then as to why my PE setup will access my NAS without issue, but nothing from the cloud. Hopefully I'll get some resolution on my ticket.

Hi Philip; Yes it is very puzzling. Hopefully they will sort it out.

I have solved the mystery. It turns out that the RE will only access full disk / partition backups from the cloud. All my other cloud backups were File and Folder backups. When I added a test Partition backup it showed up in the RE just fine.
Looks like we can chalk this up to user error!
Sorry for the wild goose chase, guys.
Best,
Philip.

Glad it is sorted Philip. Though, it does seem a little strange.

Hi Philip,
Just to confirm - only disk/partitions Cloud backup are available in media by design. What is the case for you to access files and folder backup from Cloud?

Hi Marina,
I can definitely understand the design decision - it just wasn't clear to me at first. So when I didn't see any of my cloud backups I assumed initially that it was because the media wasn't seeing them for some reason. I only later realized after testing further on my own that full disk images do in fact show up. I agree with you that full disk images are the most useful case for cloud access from the recovery media since recovery of individual files is far more easily handled from the web or desktop client.
Perhaps the "Nothing to display" error could be changed to "No disk/partition backups found on your cloud account". That would have immediately clued me in to the issue.
Best,
Philip.

That's a good point, I agree that lack of files and folder support in media should be more clear for user. I will take it to the upcoming release improvements. Thank you!

Thank you for following up and escalating the suggestion. Really appreciate it! Overall the 2018 release appears to me to be a major advance, and I already liked 2017. :)
