pausing backup in ATI 2018 - ok to disconnect external USB drive while paused?
Hello,
I've read that ATI 2018 lets you pause a backup. During the pause, is it safe to disconnect the external drive to which I'm backing up, then reconnect it later and resume the backup?
Context is, I rarely have an uninterrupted block of many hours to do the backup. Whenever the laptop is moved, there is a high chance that the external drive will get disconnected, messing up the backup. It would be great if there was a safe way to pause the backup, disconnect the drive, move the machine, then reconnect the drive and resume the backup.
Ideally, one would also be able to Sleep or Hibernate the machine during the paused backup and then safely resume the backup after waking the machine. Is that possible?

"I suspect that it may be possible" -- if there are any Acronis staff here, it would be great if they could confirm this.

Where did you read this, and in what context was it speaking about being able to pause a backup?
I have checked in the ATIH 2018 User Guide and the only references to pausing look to be in relation to Non Stop Backup, Synchronisation and Mobile backups. Backups to the Acronis Cloud can also be paused, but I have not read anything to suggest that the type of pause you are asking about, (i.e. to pause a local backup, disconnect the backup drive, put the computer to sleep or hibernation then be able to resume as if nothing has happened) is possible.
I would suggest that you could try making a small backup and test this for yourself and see what happens when you try this?
