Can't create bootable rescue media in ATI 2017

Thread needs solution

Everything else seems to work, but when I use the menu/icon to create the bootable rescue media, the program becomes non-responsive (never, never land). Then I must reset the computer to get control back to Windows.  I'm using Win XP SP3.  I have Norton AV, and have disabled it with no effect on the issue.  I did download and burn the ISO image of ATI 2017, but I wanted to use the Rescue Media with a USB stick.

Thanks.

Larry, has this ever worked correctly for you previously?

If it did work before but doesn't work now, then I would suggest doing a Repair install of ATIH 2017 on your computer.  To do this, download the latest 2017 full installer from your Acronis account then run this as Administrator over the top of your current software.

Hi buddy

if you still cannot create a bootable media, you can try more ways. If you search "how too create a bootable media", you can find a lot of ways, such as Windows USB/DVD Download tool: create bootable media, DiscWizard-Create Bootable Media, Acronis Backup-Creating Acronis Bootable Media, Create Bootable Media-AOMEI Backupper, etc. you can choose one from them. And, I think a third-party tool could be more easier.

Hi-

Thanks for the suggestions!

I've re-installed this 3 times with the latest builds of downloads.  It fails in the same manner consistently, and never has worked.  So I worked around this issue by using an older version of ATI 2013.  Created the bootable file and can recover the images created from 2017.  The rescue media has saved my bacon several times over the years, but I had always made a new one when I purchased a new ATI.

Larry, thanks for the feedback / update - glad that your 2013 rescue media is working for you but would recommend opening a Support Case with Acronis for this issue with not being able to create the 2017 rescue media as this should be possible given that the 2017 User Guide states that your Windows XP SP3 is a supported OS for the product.

Supported operating systems

Acronis True Image 2017 has been tested on the following operating systems:

  • Windows XP SP3 (32-bit) *
  • Windows 7 SP1 (all editions)
  • Windows 8 (all editions)
  • Windows 8.1 (all editions)
  • Windows 10 (all editions)
  • Windows Home Server 2011

* Limited support. Some features may not work properly. For example, Online Dashboard and Archiving.

Acronis True Image 2017 also lets you create a bootable CD-R/DVD-R that can back up and recover a disk/partition on a computer running any Intel- or AMD- based PC operating system, including Linux®. Note that the Intel-based Apple Macintosh is not supported.
