View Acronis 2013 backups in Acronis 2018

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

This may be a dumb question but having just upgraded to Acronis 2018 I cannot see my old Acronis 2013 backups anywhere, or see any way to 'import' them into Acronis 2018. This worries me a bit in case I ever needed to restore from them.

I checked through the documentation for 2018 and didn't see anything obvious.

If someone could point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated.

Where are your 2013 backups located, external drive, NAS, etc.?

Hi Enchantech,

Sorry for the delay replying. The existing backups from my 2013 install are on a Synology NAS connected to the home network.

Cheers,

Steve

OK,

After a bit more digging I found the option to Add Existing Backups. However, this only seems to add one backup at a time, which is a bit tedious. Also, I'm not sure it's associating these previous backups as having been taken from this same PC, so if I run a new backup job now I don't think it would take the earlier backups into account and run an incremental backup.

Anyone know if its possible to import multiple previous backups in one operation?

Thanks,

Steve

Steve, when you use Add existing backup, this works on the principle of version chains, so if you have an existing backup which comprises of 5, 10 or 50 files, you only need to add the latest file for the whole chain to be added.

Once you have added such backups, you still need to reconfigure the backup settings if you want to add to that backup chain.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the information - that sounds like what I'm after. I guess I'd assumed it would 'find them' as part of the upgrade but from what you're saying it seems pretty straightforward.

Thanks again for the help.

Steve
