Huge incremental backups
Why does Acronis 2017 create huge incremental backups. Even minutes after the last one.
Typically 25gb when the full backup is less than 100gb
This is using the default incremental scheme

Paul, thanks for the log file information. I do not see anything obvious in the log to suggest a problem being encountered here.
Are you on a Windows Insider build of Windows 10?
Are you doing any defragmenting of your drives?
What else is active in the time inbetween your backup actions?

not in the insider program
the drive is an SSD therefore no defrag optimization possible / needed
no software running
The back ups are minutes apart
93gb full at 15:57
18gb inc at 16:01
17gb inc at 16:04
Not using sector-by-sector mode, just the standard incremental scheme
I'm on to support chat now...

Ok, Paul, thanks for the further feedback/update, please let us know what the outcome of your support chat is as I am sure this will be of interest of lots of other users, myself included!

result was that I had a error showing in the acronis system report
--CC 235G 235G 128G NTFS 07 NTFS, HPFS Windows.... --e--V MFT bitmap corrupted
The agent said that the HPFS file system is not support.
Anyway, I ran a CHKDSK C: /r and 1 error was found in the hiberfil.sys file.
After this was fixed all is well.

Paul, thanks for giving this feedback, MFT bitmap corruption can cause some strange problems that have come to these forums, but interesting to know that it can also cause these very large incremental backup images too, but guess that as ATI is detecting changes at a sector level for disk / partition backups, this makes some sense if the master file table is giving out incorrect file information for sectors affected.
