Active Protection Storage folder

Thread needs solution

I had an incident a while ago where Active Protection appeared to intervene to halt the operation of Outlook.  As part of this it seems to have created 2 folders within a folder called "Acronis Active Protection Storage" containing (I think) copies of my Outlook archive (and possibly other) material.

I managed to get Outlook running again and now a month or so later wonder whether I can safely delete these (very large) folders.  The original archives continue to exist elsewhere on my PC so these versions were presumably "back ups"?

Thanks for any advice.

Jeremy, another question that I would direct via a Support Case to Acronis as this is something that has not been covered in any of the limited documentation for Active Protection and should be being handled automatically by the application itself once any threat has been dealt with or they should provide a cleanup option for when the volume of storage used is very large.

Please do feedback on the response you get on this subject as is sure to be of interest to other users too.

I have received a response from Acronis:

"I understand your concern, I would suggest you to move the files first to another location and check the functionality of the MS Outlook.  Meanwhile, please let us know after the move. If the MS Outlook works, thus determining that the files in question can be deleted.  I will also raise this query to our experts team.  Feel free to get back to us if you have any further questions. We are here to help you."

I have followed this suggestion and MS Outlook operation seems unaffected.  So I think the answer is that these files can be safely deleted ....but only when the software involved in the event has been re-established as working.

Hope this may be of help to others.

Jeremy, thanks for sharing the feedback you received from Acronis - the advice sound sensible to ensure no ill effects of deleting unwanted files.
