Trouble with Recovery to Bootable Media PC

Thread needs solution

I have some questions regarding recovery from backups present on storage nodes to a new target PC booted with Acronis bootable media (WinPE) 12.5.7048. I can see the new PC under "bootable media" under devices in the console.

I've tried recovering the entire device from the ABA console to the bootable media PC and after selecting it and clicking "recover" the recovery never starts. I just get the spinning circle. I'm not aware of any logging so I don't know how to troubleshoot this but it appears like it never contacts the bootable-media PC.

The only way I have successfully recovered an entire computer to another computer booted via bootable media is manage the PC locally. But even then, when I select "Storage Node" from the backup location and type in the name of the server, it seems to require it in the format of bsp://servername\StorageNodeName, which isn't obvious but I noted it in my documentation.

Thanks

Pete

Hi Pete,

There is a known bug (internal ID: ABR-125285) that the Storage Node locations do not appear in the list when you manage bootable media via web interface (when media is connected to the management server) and run recovery. This problem is fixed in the upcoming Update 2 (to be released by the end of the year) and until then the workaround to perform recovery is to go to "Backups" tab (where all backup locations are listed on management server) and from there choose the bootable media agent from the "Agent to browse.." link - this way you'll be able to access the backups on the Storage Node and perform recovery via bootable media while managing it via web console interface.

Also remember that the above described issue is applicable to the current Update 1 builds (b. 7641/7970), so in either case you should update the bootable media to the most recent build.

Thank you.

I will update my bootable media to 7970 and see how things behave. I also look forward to the Update 2.

Thanks Vasily!
