Backup hangs with either "queued" or 'computing space.." at bottom of screen.

Thread needs solution

Backup disc filled while I was out of town.  Have not been able to get a new backup since.

Bruce, welcome to these User Forums.

If your backup drive has insufficient free space, then you will need to do some manual cleanup using Windows Explorer.

When you delete .TIB files in Explorer, it is important to only delete files which all belong to the same version chain, i.e. those with the same _bx_ identifier, so all files with say _b1_ in the file names.

The next action that is needed after manually deleting files in Explorer, is that you should perform a Validation for the ATI backup task that created the deleted files.  This is needed to reconcile the internal Acronis Database to match the remaining backup files with the information held in the database, as otherwise you will be given error messages for 'cannot find version x' where x is the number in the _bx_ file names you deleted.

To prevent this situation, you should configure the automatic cleanup rules to "Store no more than X recent version chains" where the value X should be set to the maximum number of full backup files that can fit on your backup drive but reduced by 1.  So if your backups are 50GB each and you have a 500GB backup drive, then X = 9, to leave room for a further full backup that will trigger automatic cleanup to run and delete the oldest backup version chain.

THanks.  BUt a couple of questions.  I cannot find automatic cleanup rules.  Will implement your suggestion when I can.

Also cannot find how to run validation.  I deleted base copy for sure but have last 3 full backups and incrementals.  Have not seen the option to ignore the error and right now I am stuck with backups being queued but never executed.  Will continue to try to find how to run validation.   B.

Bruce, when you have your ATI 2015 main GUI open, then to the right of your task name you will see (V) which you can click on to reveal a menu with further options, including Validation.

For the automatic cleanup rules, these are configured on your Backup Scheme settings page.

See the ATIH 2015 User Guide: Custom schemes which has a section on Automatic cleanup rules with a description of the settings available.

The parent page: Backup schemes has a screen shot showing the option to Turn on automatic cleanup which you need to click on to get to the further settings.

Thanks, but I gave up on backups to my removable disk and upgraded to A18 with install support,  I had a hard time navigating menus in A15.  Backup to cloud is running now.  I appreciate your help.

Bruce, thanks for the update / feedback, hope goes well with ATI 2018 and your cloud backup.
