IN 2016 TI - Why does it say 930GB in Disks and Partitions Main Page

Thread needs solution

I want to make an image of my O/S drive which is C:

I have chosen Disks and Parts and the main screen comes up with my source disk named but with a GB number bigger than the drive.

Going to Custom Destination  giving correct drive size and free space.

I am concerned about the source. Why does it say 966.3 GB when I have only chosen about 246GB to be imaged.

Along the top it also gives last and next backup and total size 966.3GB. Why is it saying this amount of data?

The drive I am imaging is only 241GB

David, sorry but this is a topic where screen shots would help us to understand better what you are seeing here.

Is this a new backup task, or is it an existing task that has been working / has created previous backups?

Have you got any symbolic links from the source drive that point to data on other drives that might be being counted?

Thank  you for the help.

Okay. Here are a couple of shots.

I am wanting to create an image of my o/s Win 10 prox64 1709 drive in case of crashes.

I am saving to an eternal 2 TB drive.

David, if you leave the Source as the default of 'Entire PC'  then this will include the data for all of your installed disk drives.

When you drill down and select the individual disk & its partitions, then only the data for that source selection will be included in the backup.

Thank you Steve.

Yes I understood that part of it, but I was thrown by the Total amount on the top right of the screen.

I knew my drive on;t had 200+GB but was concerned that although I did only choose my drive, it was still going to try and image everything in the 1TB.

I thought that total was offputting and had nothing to do with what I had chosen.

Hello David,

The field Total size in Acronis True Image 2016 reflects the total size of the backup chain (all backups created within the selected backup job). Would you open a target location and check how many backups archives are there and the total size?
