Want to protect tib files with "Controlled folder access"
Want to protect tib files with "Controlled folder access" latest win 10, (so ransom-ware does not hose them) what additional steps are needed besides allowing trueimage.exe as an allowed app?

Hi,
We are heavily invested in 2017, please let R&D know that they should provide some help
Thanks.

MVP's have no direct access to R&D staff. All I can suggest that you either do an in-app feedback request for something to be done or create a support case.
As I understand it, ATI 2017 is in maintenance mode, and new build will only be released if a major problem (vulnerability) is found in the software. New features are usually introduced in new version rather than a new build. And what you are after would appear to be a new feature.

Please see KB documents:

REVO...protecting tib files that are located on an internal hard drive, or any drive that is constantly connected to the computer, is a great idea. All of the suggestions by Steve Smith are necessary to ensure True Image runs properly, especially as it relates to automatic cleanup...where ATI deletes old tib files, based on cleanup rules.
You should also run some tests to ensure that "Controlled folder access" is actually protecting the .tib files. For example, some ransomware programs actually hijack windows explorer, and windows explorer then deletes the files. So, if you set everything up, and then try to delete a tib file using windows explorer, you should get a warning and an OK to proceed button (as a minimum). If you can delete the tib file without a warning, then "Controlled folder access" is not really protecting the tib files.

Borys, open Windows Task Manager, look at the Detailed view to see what Acronis programs are shown as being active before you actually try to do anything in the ATI main GUI, then check again when you are doing a backup task etc. This will show you which are the main Acronis programs that would need to be whitelisted.
See also KB 60522: Acronis True Image 2018: Windows services and processes for a description of the different processes etc.
