Free and unallocated space problem.

Thread needs solution

I partitioned my HDDs with windows xp sp3 (with a intel motherboard) and then I changed my motherboard (amd) and reinstalled Windows XP sp3 in partition 1 (full format no repartition) of the first HDD. After that I can see some unallocated disc space at the end of each HDD. Then I deleted all partitions on my first HDD using Windows 7 setup disk and installed Win 7 in it. Then I created partitions using Win 7 disk management tool and a bizarre thing happened, I got free space (about a mb) left before each logical drive created using Windows 7.

Then I tried Acronis Disk Director and to my surprise it only detected the unallocated space on Hdds formatted using XP, but no free space is showing before each logical drive (formatted using Windows 7).

The minimum size of unallocated space required for DD to display it varies depending on the version. If you're using DD 11 and the partitions are basically empty (or you have backups), you could try resizing them just a little (smaller and then back to full size) and see if they align without the unwanted space in between.

No it doesn't work. Even Win7 setup up disc is not recognizing the unallocated/free space. Must be some thing with this motherboard.
