How to change machine credentials?
Hello,
When you add device in backup console, you are asked for credentials, which lately are used to access this machine during backups. How to change these credentials?
I added all machines with domain administrator account, now I would like change the account to different.
I cannot find an option to do that.
Thanks,
Leonid.

Hello,
Please consider the following scenario:
I added all machines using domain administrator credentials. Domain admins' password was not changed since then. All is working.
Now, I want utilize different user account for backups. I changed the mms service to run under this new user and restarted it.
So far so good, backups are working.
Now, if I change administrator's password in the system, backups fail with the message "Failed to log in as user domain\administrator". This proves that backups are done using previously supplied credentials.
How to change them?
Thanks,
Leonid.

Hello
Now, I want utilize different user account for backups. I changed the mms service to run under this new user and restarted it.
By default MMS service is working under "Local system". Why did you change MMS service user?
I suggest you to set it back to "Local system" which will prevet backup failure when you change administrator's password.

Hello,
My apologies - mms server runs under acronisxxxxxxxxxxxxx user (automatically created).
Ams service was run under administrator's account, I changed it to new user (also with administrative rights).
Do you suggest to change mms user to "Local system" anyway?
Thanks,
Leonid.

If you don't have security policy to change passwords each X months (e.g. each 3 months), there is no need to change mms user to "Local system".

Of course, I do.
I do need to change administrator's password, so I want utilize dedicated backup user for backups, who's password will not change.
How to achieve that?
Thanks,
Leonid.

Change MMS user to "Local system".
AMS can be started using managed service account. You can read about managed service accounts in this article.
Also, you can try to use "Network service" for AMS, but I;m not sure that everything will work as expected.

OK.
I changed mms user to "Local system" and ran backup. It worked.
Then, I changed administrator password and ran it again.
It failed immediately with the message "Failed to log in as user domain\administrator".
Any other suggestion?
Thanks,
Leonid.

What is your backup destination? Is it network folder? If yes, then initiate backup plan editing and enter new credentials for the network folder in the backup plan.

This is not backup destination credentials issue.
Backup destination uses different credentials (different user, not "administrator").
So it is definitely access to backup target issue.
There have to be a place where access credentials are stored and there have to be a way to change them.

Try to change backup plan (any parameter, for example plan name) and save it.
If this won't work, please collect system information (select machine, open Activities tab for that machine and click "Collect system information").
I will send the link to FTP server where you can upload system information.

I tried already, saw post telling that.
Unfortunately, I was not asked for credentials upon plan name change.
Any physical machine suffer from this issue.

Please, collect system information and upload it using the link that I provided in private message.

BTW, I was need to redefine mms user back to Acronis special user acronisxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
With Local System only manual backups worked, but scheduled failed.
Thank you.

Are there any solutions because i have the same problem? After changing admin-password the backup failed. New created backup with the same settings run successfully...

Could find a solution to the problem. Only the application-backup (Exchange, AD, SQL. . . ) needs to be removed from the backup plan and added again. There you get the information that the login data is wrong. Then only enter the new/correct logon data and the backup will work again

Hello Volker,
thank you for posting on Acronis forums and sharing your workaround with other forum users!
We recommend that you create a service account with admin rights for Acronis_user in order to avoid issues with changed admin passwords in the future.
