TI2018 - Email says backup successful - but had failed

Thread needs solution

Just noticed that my TI2018 backups have been failing every night, and I haven't figured out for how long they have been failing.  I have the daily job set to send an email with the backup results.. The problem is that the emails it has been sending have in the subject "Backup task completed successfully - Acronis True Image notification" -- it is only when you go into the attached log that you see the job failed.

It looks like the backup itself completes without error -- but it fails in the validation phase.  In my case, it cant find a .tib file.. I should be able to resolve that on my own -- but why are the email notifications not stating failure in the subject if the job fails to validate?

Rick, please download the MVP Log Viewer tool which is available via the MVP User Tools link or via the Community Tools KB document (link in my signature).  This will allow you to see the whole of the log detail for your backup task.

It is quite possible that the actual Backup was successful in creating the .TIB file but that the Validation phase of the task hit a problem for some reason - the full log should give more information on what.

When you click on the 'Open location' option for your backup task, does this show your .TIB files on your destination drive?  If it does, can you do a Validation either from the same options menu, or using the right-click menu in Explorer and does this also fail or not?

I had this problem with one local backup task recenlty, and I suspect that loading a new build of ATI somehow confused the settings for the task; all I had to do was go into task configuration and reselect the Target drive.

Unfortunately, this happens from time to time when there is an update to either Windows (eg Fall Creator Update) or ATI.

Hmm, misread the post. First step wold be to follow Steve's advice. Another seniors moment!
