Tips for downloading and setting up TI 2018
Just about to hit the button and download True Image 2018. Is there anything I should watch out for or does anyone have any "tips" for downloading and initially setting up TI?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help Steve, really appreciated.
I also meant to ask in the above post, roughly what size is the ATI download?

Mike, the latest ATI 2018 build 10410 installer shows as 518MB for the full version on my drive, there is also a web installer but that will still need to download the same data during the install process.

Just trying to download from the Acronis site and I get the pop up saying "The app you're trying to install isn't a verified app from the Store"
Am I in the right place?

Mike, that is a Microsoft ploy to try to get you to buy their own apps, Acronis is not a MS Store app so just ignore the pop up!

Downloaded and hopefully doing a backup with about 2 hours to run. I wasn't asked about creating a boot disk so I went into the Rescue Media Builder and ran that to a USB stick.
A couple more questions if I may. I'd like to run a backup every other day if possible but can only see Weekly and Daily slots, can I do this?
Now that I think I have a USB that should boot the system in case of problems, do I need to test it, is this possible?
Please excuse all the questions, as I've mentioned before, backups are completely new to me so any help or advice is most welcome.

Mike, within the Scheduling options you can set a wide variety of different schedules that are shown when you select Weekly, Monthly etc.
Yes, you should test the USB rescue media will boot up OK and can see your disk drives so that you have peace of mind should you get into a recovery situation.

The first backup still has over an hour and a half to run and as I only have 98GB on my C drive, I'm guessing I've done something wrong.
In my PC I have the C drive with roughly 98GB used out of 250 (SSD). In the PC I also have a 1TB normal drive that I back up some of my photographic work to. I only want to back up the C drive so if there's ever a problem I can reinstall Windows and all my files from Acronis.
Looking at my hard drive, I've only downloaded Acronis but it has somehow taken up over 9GB of space, not the 500MB mentioned before.
I'm quite surprised there's not some simple "How To" video on YouTube for newcomers like myself showing how to do the first back ups.

Mike, if your C: drive is only 98GB then I wouldn't expect that to take too long with coming from an SSD unless you have a very slow connection to your backup destination drive?
No idea as to why the Acronis download should be more than the 518MB of the installer file, and certainly not grow to anything approaching 9GB in size? I would check exactly what you have stored in your download location?
See the following KB documents ref 'how to'...
KB 60142: Acronis True Image 2018: how to back up entire computer
KB 60144: Acronis True Image 2018: how to back up files or disks
See the ATI 2018 KB webpage for many more how to and FAQ documents.

Thanks again for all the help Steve, apologies if there's only yourself available to help on here.
I checked my downloads folder and nothing at all shows in there. Before downloading ATI, I checked the hard drive and there was 124GB of space, now, after ATI was installed I only have 115GB free space.

Very strange! Try taking a look at your drive using the TreeSize Free utility program which should give you a better idea of where the space is being taken, what folder etc?
No worry about helping here - think we are both in the UK and some of the other regular forum responders are in the US, Canada and Australia.

I've had a look through the help files above, but I'm having problems understanding the backup scheme. Not sure what incremental or differential really means or how they affect my backups.
Is there any other "How To's" that may cover this?

Mike, take a read through the Basic Concepts pages of the ATI 2018 User Guide where you will find an explanation about the different backup scheme types, i.e. Full, incremental and differential backups

Just been back into ATI and now for some reason, I cannot select a destination drive.
When I did the first backup yesterday, I realised that due to the time it took and the size of the files I had done a backup of my entire PC including a 1TB disk used only for photography. (This is backed up to another external hard drive).
I tried again this morning, selecting only the C disk but it will no longer let me select a destination drive.

Mike, there is a known issue with the latest ATI 2018 build #10410 with selecting the Destination options - see KB 60680: Acronis True Image 2018 build 10410: nothing happens when clicking "Select destination" - in essence, you need to click just above the text or try around about it.

Thanks to all the help on here, I've now managed to set a schedule of backups that will hopefully run without any further input from me. What I'd like to be able to find out now is what I would need to do with the USB Rescue Media in case of problems with my PC in the future.
In all the bits I've read so far, it mentions going into the BIOS to be able to download the backups. BIOS to me is about as alien as my going to Mars. Can any please point me towards a "simple" how to with the steps I'd need to take?

Mike, you may not need to go into / change the BIOS settings - it depends on what options are provided to select an alternative boot device, i.e. some computers such as Dell offer the F12 key on boot to access a boot device selection menu.
You can also use options in Windows 10 to do this too via the Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Advanced start-up > Restart now button.
See KB 60131: Acronis True Image 2018: how to restore your computer with WinPE-based or WinRE-based media for more information on the process of restoring using the rescue media.
I would recommend creating the rescue media ahead of time and then having a play with getting this to boot using the above option.

Thanks Steve.
I've found that by playing with the F keys, F11 brings a small pop up to the screen and that gives me the option to boot from USB.
Pressing Delete, takes me into the BIOS.
Once I was in the BIOS, I couldn't get out of it again so I left everything alone at that stage.
