Can't resolve "Bad Certificate Error" error
I just installed ATI 2018 on my kid's Windows 10 laptop. I created a backup to the cloud job, but when I attempt to run the backup I get a "Bad Certificate Error", and a message saying the backup will resume. I tried rebooting the laptop, but that did not help. Any idea how to resolve this issue?

Just installed 2018 TI and I'm having the same issue....this is nuts as I just switch from using Idrive and feeling like this is just as unreliable as that when trying to test online cloud backup? Acronis is this a permanent problem???

MGrigg, welcome to these User Forums.
I am not aware of any general problem with Acronis Cloud backups / Bad Certificate issues but this could be localised to your target server and is normally self-resolving.
I am able to run my own Cloud backups with no issue to the UK Cloud server.
See KB 4350: Acronis Backup to Cloud access ports and hostnames and KB 47145: Acronis Cloud Connection Verification Tool which can help check the connection to the servers.
If you still see a problem, then please open a Support Case direct with Acronis who can check the server(s) from their side of the connection.

Ran verification tool with and without firewall enabled....success on all entries on both (see attachment). Still getting the "bad certificate request" error message....very disappointing. Thinking already about getting refund after doing some additional reviewing last night. Seems to be a larger issue that ALOT of people are complaining about. Why sell a product that one of its key "selling" components doesn't work right out of the box. This is just like Idrive, big problem, no explanation, no real easy solution.

Last ditch effort, opened ticket with support. Not expecting any type of quick response or resolution, but made the effort. Will call bout refund first thing in the morning...no one has time for this much effort for what should be a point and click backup solution as they "advertise".

The only other suggestion here would be to try deleting (or moving / renaming) the problem certificate file (after closing any Acronis programs).
The certificate(s) is/are found in C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\OnlineBackup\(your email address)\ where you will find 'client.?????.crt' certificate files.
My personal recommendation is again to open a Support Case with Acronis for this issue.

More information with trying to delete the backup from my console, getting same error message "bad certificate request", just don't get whey I would be getting this while trying to delete task on my own PC. Here is the detail:
More information about this error and solutions may be available online in the Acronis Knowledge Base.
To access the online resource manually, enter the event code at: http://kb.acronis.com/errorcode/
Event code: 0x006400D1+0x0064026C+0x00E4003E+0x00980366+0x00000001
When trying to pull up the info on the event code, nothing is found.

In order to delete the task from your PC ATI GUI a connection to the Cloud server is needed as this action would also remove any files stored on the server, so potentially a Catch22 situation if you cannot get past the bad certificate error to make the connection!
The error code situation is a little more confusing - Acronis capture statistics for all such error codes searched in the KB, and then feeds this information into its development team to produce new KB documents for those scoring the highest number of hits. The frustration for users is getting told there is no information for the error when expecting to be given some indication of what the root cause is and how to resolve it.
You should be able to sign in to your Acronis Dashboard from the Account page in the ATI GUI and then access your Cloud backup from the links shown on the web page. You could then try deleting the Cloud backup in that way, then try deleting the associated task configuration script file from your PC.
Task scripts are held in C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts as XML text format files - you will need to open these files in Notepad to check the task name in the data inside.

Same issue for me. Just recently purchased ATI 2018 and not happy at this point. Initial cloud backup went well, but later when I tried to move around within the GUI such as the recovery tab, change backup date or frequency options, etc. I was met with a pop up to "check internet connection" or that there may be an issue with the server. When I tried to update the backup, I got the "bad certificate" error and the backup got stuck in a loop where it would try to restart but then bad certificate and repeat. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling ATI and got the same. I never could see the backup in the recover tab and ended up deleting the backup due to being stuck in the "bad certificate" loop.
Then tried to do my first PC backup to a Samsung T3 USB external SSD, but the ATI would not recognize the drive. On the "plug in our external hard drive" the button to continue (okay) is greyed out. I tried re-plugging the SSD and then coped some files to it to make sure it's working. No matter what I tried, the SSD wasn't recognized and I couldn't proceed past the "plug in your external drive" page. So, unable to perform a local backup.
So after fiddling with ATI 2018 for about half a day with nothing to show for it, I'm wondering if it's maybe half baked at this point? Frustrating to say the least.
