Can't restore backup - prompts for authentication for retired nas

Thread needs solution

So I have read about the perils of moving things around outside of ATI, and I confess that I am guilty of same.

I used to have a device NAS03 that was my backup destination.  I brought up a new device (NAS01) and moved all the .tib files there.  I reconfigured my critical backups and deleted some old .tib files and everything seemed to be working fine....

Until the other day when I tried to do a restore.  I got the 'Aithentication Settings' box asking me to sign in to NAS03.  The backup job I was trying to restore from didn't use that as a target, but that didn't seem to matter.  I ended up using my recovery disk to do the restore.

Now I am trying to get things working correctly again.  I used ATI to delete all the backup jobs, recreated my main job from scratch, pointing to NAS01.  The job has been running fine, but when I go to do a restore, I still get the authentication box.  This is the only backup job on the machine, so nothing points to the missing NAS03.  Don't understand why I am getting prompted.

Is there ANY way to recover from this?  If I uninstall and reinstall ATI, will that fix it?

Thanks

Thomas, see KB 58004: Acronis True Image 2016: Troubleshooting Issues Related to NAS Credentials which will help you to check for any left-over credentials from the retired NAS.

In the article reference Steve gave under Quick Solutions, navigate to the registry key specified, under SMB you should find entries for both NAS01 and NAS03, remove the one desired and that will eliminate the prompt.
