Is my Acronis corrupted?

Thread needs solution
Lately the program v6683 ATIH seems to be erratic in it's behavior.

If I choose Partition Mode in ATIH 2014 then change to disc mode and back again, it seems to forget all my choices in Partition Mode. Is this expected behavior? [A friends 2013 remembers the choices even after changing.]

The program set to keep only 2 backup versions, it is not removing the oldest one, right now I have 3 showing.

If I d/l the last version of ATIH 2014 will I then have the opportunity to update it to v 6688 which is what I have now? Or will I only be allowed to use the 6673 and go no further?

I have avoided removing and re-installing the program for fear of not being able to go back to the version I have, 6688.

Sorry for multiple questions in one posting.

Thank you,

Fred

Fred, ATIH 2014 latest build showing in my Account downloads page is #6673 and there is no mention of the later build #6683, nor is this mentioned in the Product Update pages.

So, if you do reinstall ATIH 2014 using #6673 you would need to see if it will automatically update to any available new build or whether #6683 is one that was withdrawn by Acronis for some reason?

Sorry that I cannot help with the other question about remembering choices when changing modes as I do not have access to any system with ATIH 2014 still installed - all of mine are either using 2017 or 2018 these days.

Steve,

I was having so much trouble logging in to the forum that I mistakenly wrote 6683 instead of v6688. That is the one currently on the machine, it seems to me it was an update offered to me at some point. As long as v6673 will do the same things as v 6688 that would be fine. I just can't stand not being able to trust it as I once did. I have to 'babysit' it each time I start a backup. Just like the program not deleting older backup versions, it can't be trusted.

thanks anyway I was hoping that someone would have an answer, I don't just buy something to have the latest and greatest. If it ain't broke I don't try to fix it! Hence the continued use of 2014 v 6688.

Is there a removal program for Acronis or must I use the W7 product remover?

Regards,

Fred

Fred, you shouldn't need to use a removal program here, just either try a Repair install by running the #6673 full installer over the top of what is already there, or else, uninstall ATI normally via the Control Panel options.

If there is a problem doing the above, then the Acronis Cleanup Tool (link in my signature) can be used with all versions from 2010 to 2018.  You should do a restart after using the tool to complete the action before trying to reinstall.

Take a read of forum topic: Acronis True Image 2014 Update 3 has been released? which has the conclusion that there is no real difference here between #6673 and #6688 other than Universal Restore being unbundled!

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the valuable info. It will be put to good use.

FWIW I always backup my Linux Mint installs, along with W7, and Acronis has saved my bacon countless times after I've had a fight with the Linux Terminal... and lost ! :D Very easy to use an image to restore a botched kernel change or the like.

I never fail to recommend Acronis to anyone I think might be interested.

Regards,

Fred

Fred, I also backup my Ubuntu Linux systems using my ATI Rescue media which has always done the job just fine!
