iMac Pro Ressue Media Creation Error

Thread needs solution

SO, with a new iMac Pro and new 2018 Acronis I get the error:

An error occurred while creating media

Failed to create bootable media by using Apple Software Restore.  So I cannot create the Media for recovery.

Is this due to the iMac Pro or lack of the Apple Software partition?  Could I make the USB disk on another MAC and then use it on the iMac Pro???

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hello Gregg,

Welcome to Acronis forums! I'd suggest starting with the following thread https://forum.acronis.com/forum/acronis-true-image-mac-forum/cant-create-rescue-media-version-6077 which summarizes the troubleshooting steps outlined by other users and some of our experts.

I see that you also have an open support ticket, would you mind sharing the outcome with the community? Thank you!

FYI, There is so no answer from Acronis, still waiting.  BTW, this error comes from an out of the box iMac Pro one day old, with no other software installed but Acronis.

Have you tried creating a native Mac bootable media? Is it possible to start the Mac from this media?

No love, just total frustration with Aconis.  My response from from the expert team at Acronis was a single sentence with a link that was a non Starter-an option that simple is wrong and does not work. I call BS again.

Hello Gregg,

sorry to hear of your frustration. This issue is not something that occurs on all systems, in other words is specific to the environment, that's why the investigation would have consumed more efforts than usually. As far as I can see, your recent order has been refunded.

Thank you,

I call BS again.  This is a brand new iMac just out of the box, was trying to do a first CLONE so I would have a clean backup if ever needed.  Needless to say, Your product was new on the system too.  No one ever really tried to solve the problem.   They just asked me to create the media on a different computer, that I no longer have.

So, my brand new iMac is something unique????   NO!

Yes, I did return the product.  No it does not happen on all systems.  THERE IS NOTHING SPECIFIC TO MY ENVIRONMENT.  Unless you call a new iMac something specific.....
