What Will TrueImage File/Folder Backup do if it cannot read a file?
Hi.
I'm testing a bunch of backup solutions right now to decide which one to buy. I'm only interested in file and folder backups because I have huge data files on my SDD C Partition and I don't need to be able to restore a full system with a disk image anyway.
One of the crucial factors for deciding which tool to use has been the ability to handle certain non-windows-native files, which are on my drive because I'm using the windows subsystem for linux (WSL). I am happy to report that from the looks of it, Acronis was able to backup and restore even unix-native files (softlinks) while other software just skipped them and didn't even warn me (or warned me but wasn't able to backup it).
However, as I see no way to access any backup logs (the Program Data Log folder didn't have any backup logs on my system) I am wondering what Acronis WOULD do if it encountered a file that it cannot backup. Would it notify me?
Also any technical explanation why Acronis is able to backup these "special" files and Macrium for example cannot?

Hi Steve, thanks for the answer. Just to clarify, if there was any problem during the backup, such as a read error, ATI would write something to the logs?

Simon, yes, I would expect a log entry for such errors.
See the ATI 2018 User Guide: Error handling for some further information.
