Intallation Problem

Thread needs solution

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 machine. It runs with Vista Home Version. I can't get the 2011 Acronis to install. Suggestions are welcome

Some additional comments. Everything goes fine, the short-cuts are put on the screen. Then the green bar starts to move left and the I get the interruption message. I have started the .exe file as an administrator.

Have you had a previous version of TI installed?

Make sure your temp folder is as empty as Vista will allow.

c:\users\your_user_name\appdata\local\temp

Thanks.
But that didn't work.
I am suspecting that the problem has to do with Vista. I was able to install a second 2011 version on my XP computer, no problem. I created a bootable disc. I was then able to run 2011 on my Vista Laptop. So, if Windows is not present, it works.

David,

In Vista are you a member of the Backup Operators user group?

Colin,

No. What is the Backup Operators group?
Do you think they could help me with the installationi problem on Vista?

Thanks,
David

Sorry David I think I misled you. I forgot your problem is an installation one not a running one - I just looked at post #3 and answered from there.

In Vista do you have the UAC turned off?

Is the firewall software the same on the Dell as the laptop?

Have you had any previous versions of TI installed on the Dell?

Have you tried installing using the extracted MSI file rather than the Acronis installer? To extract the installer you run the normal installation file. When you get to the choice of installing TI or downloading the manual etc, right click on the TI option and select extract installer.

Save this to a folder of your choice, becuase if installing directly from the MSI program doesn't work the next step will be to make an installation log file.

Thanks Colin.
The problem was solved today when a support person took control of my computer. There had to be some changes made in the services, the %temp% file was emptied as much as possible, the McAfee firewall was turned off.
Now it is installed.
