TI2018 Rescue Media Builder... CD beware

Thread needs solution

Today I attempted to create a CD using the Rescue Media Builder.  TI went through all the motions, said it was burning the CD and finished with no errors.  Since I was interested in cloning my system drive, I tried to boot up the CD... and no joy.  I pulled the CD and it looked like nothing had burned.

I created another one and tried again.  Again, no errors, but again disk would not boot.  I did recall, however, that TI indicated it had 767MB of files to write to the CD.  Isn't that too big for a CD??  If so, then why no warning or error?  I checked, there is nothing wrong with my burner.

I created a thumb drive and that worked fine.  The cloning, however, is a different forum topic message...sigh...

I hope others don't have coasters in place of actual rescue media...

You could be correct about the CD having insufficient space. I have a dim recollection of having a similar problem some years ago (but at least I got an error warning). If I get a chance I will test and see what happens (I also have DIsk Director 12.5 on my test system so it definitely should not write to a CD.)

I tried to create a standard rescue CD (using CR-RW) and got an error message indicating that the CD did not have the necessary capacity - need at lest 658 MB.

I guess that is good news!?  Now I just need to figure out my issue... ;)

I am using an HP dvd1270 RW, which is a rather old item (still does lightscribe)... maybe not returning an error that is understood??  Or no error at all!

All I can suggest is burning a DVD instead - assuming your ancient system supports DVDs! I agree that absence of a warning message is peculiar.
