Disc Director v12 not committing changes

Thread needs solution

Have installed ADD v12.03297.  Running windows 10 Pro v1709.

Wish to clone HDD.  Having committed changes and restarted PC just reboots into windows. Opening ADD shows no changes (as expected).

Can anyone advise why changes are not being committed and advise how to get working ??

EDIT:

Note; I have a dual boot system - Windows 10 Home Edition and Windows 10 Professional Edition.  Both v1709 Fall Creators Update and fully updated.  ADD12 is installed on both.  When I use Windows 10 Home Edition I have no problem running ADD and cloning HDD.  I'm at a loss to understand why, when using the Pro version of Windows, this doesn't work !?! Appreciate help and resolution

Hello David,

Thank you for your posting! Looks like the desktop version of Acronis Disk Director 12 has some issues with booting into the Linux environment when starting the operation. When committing changes to a running OS Acronis needs to load it's Linux-based bootable environment first and then perform all operations to the system out there.

I'd recommend running the product under a bootable media. You can either download it from your personal account and burn onto a CD/DVD or create a bootable media using the installed media builder. The following guidelines will help you to boot the PC with Acronis bootable media.

Thank you,

I too have had the problem of not being able to commit changes with Disk Director 12. This appears to have corrected the problem.

1) Uninstall Disk Director 12

2) Let WINDOWS UPDATE install the Windows 10 1803 Spring upgrade (April 30, 2018 ... really shows as 1804!)

3) Reinstall Disk Director 12

Other procedure may work here; this worked for me.

Thank you for sharing your experience, John!

First time I install Disk Director 12 (Latest version). Same problem as other during Windows Desktop environment.

Shows several pending actions. Click on "Pending Actions" and says  x of x operation completed. Need to restart Computer. By the way, it shows no actions being done first, like formatting or deleting volume or creating volume. Just says x of x operation completed.

After restarting the Computer, no changes occurred. Tried about 3 times with the same result. Thought maybe the installation got corrupted. Ran a "Repair" on installation of Disk Director 12.

The first time I ran the program after "Repair" after clicking on "Pending" It showed that it was actually performing the operations one at a time. Didn't need to restart the computer. Performed normally.

Right now I tried to make two partitions on a new 32 gbyte USB Drive. Had something like 5 actions in "Pending". Clicked on "Pending" and a window popped up (normal) and said 3 of 5 actions completed. Need to restart computer. Didn't see any actions happening while the three actions were completed. Restarted and NADA.

Fortunately, I installed a new 2 terabyte Hard drive in my computer. My computer wouldn't boot up due to the new drive not being formatted. Started Disk Director 12 via USB (pre boot before windows) and the program ran normally and formatted and made my drive Partition Active. Computer booted up afterwards without any problems. Did need to repair/Rebuild the BCD Boot to get everything back to the way it was. But Disk Director did work fine via USB. But that is not practical me to do that just to have to use the program. Fortunately, I was able to use Windows 10 own Disk Partitioning feature to delete and make two partitions on my new USB driver without restarting my computer.

I don't believe that Disk Director is completely compatible with Windows 10 version 1803 since that is what I have installed on my computer. Kinda disappointed in software that doesn't work. Free version of Minitools Partition and Easeus Partition Master both worked like a charm. But I deleted those programs believing that Disk Director will take its place. Now I am seriously thinking of uninstalling Disk Director 12 from my Windows and reinstalling Minitools Partition that works just as well as Disk Director via USB.

Note: Disk Director has no menu for "Changing Drive Letter".  This function I need to use Windows Partitioning Feature to accomplish.

Edit: Made sure to make the Disk Director .EXE file to run under "Administrative Rights" . Also reinstalled my Windows 10 through an ingrade Repair installation. Today, "Repaired" Disk Director again. Same results. Doesn't work in Windows Desktop environment.
