Hello Vinnie,

Welcome to Acronis forum! Nice to see you here J

You can surely backup your server with all the applications, but in order to choose a LUN as backup source your will need to specify a ESXi host.

As for the license, Acronis Backup 12.5 (Advanced) Virtual Host license would be a perfect solution. It supports Windows Server 2012 R2 as well as Windows applications (SQL, Exchange, Active Directory, SharePoint) and allows you to backup VMs and a hypervisor.

To choose between the standard and advanced licenses, please follow this KB article.

Prices are available here.

I hope I could answer your questions. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks, for the info...
So the best solution is ESXi, i was planning to backup several critical PC directly to the EMC LUN, and not get involved with any ESXi..is it possible??

Hi,

There are two ways to install the Agent for VMware: the software can be installed directly on ESX(i) host as a Virtual Appliance or as Windows Agent on a physical Windows machine outside the ESX(i) infrastructure. The latter will allow you to create backups LAN-free  - the agent will back up the virtual machines directly from the storage rather than via the ESXi host and LAN.
