Reconnect to same backup via different IP and lost whole backup?!

Thread needs solution

Hi,

On macos due to ip chance of my NAS (synology) the existing backup did not connect anymore. So had to reconnect via new ip. Connected to same folder as before. Starting a backup Acronis did a full instead of an incremental backup (as it had done the weeks before), blowing up of course the file size of the back volume (.tib)

But not only that. Recovery would now only offer the latest backup - the one from today, although the backup is set up to keep many versions over several months.

I don't have any idea, what's going on. Only intepretation: Acronis is not capable of dealing with its own files (.tib and .tib.metadata) and simply looses all backup data, if the source connection changes.

If this is the case, this product can't replace time machine by any means and is nothing else than a stupid toy. Any different ideas?

Addon: seems like Acronis client decided to delete all version history from last 2 months. Cause after the full backup had been done (which I do not know, why it did it - cause settings were allright, still same source computer, and still same backup files, just different network ip), it logged:
"XXX GB have been freed up for further backups".

This has been the back versions from last 2 months.

So I am interested why Acronis True Image 2018 in Mac would do this? But it seems like this is a secret. So very likely besides Time Machine being the only trustable solution on Mac for versioning, Carbon Copy Cloner might be the only viable Mac option?! Experiences?

Mike, sorry but this forum mainly deals with the Acronis True Image for Windows product rather than the one for Mac, so you may be best suited to ask your question in the dedicated Acronis True Image for Mac Forum where other experienced Mac users can respond to you.
