A socialist program ? (alternative title: how do I stop Acronis ?)

Thread needs solution

Yesterday I decided to manually start a backup ... and then had second thoughts about it.

So, I fired up task manager and ended all the programs / tasks in sight .. to no avail. Acronis knows better what is good for me and when I am acting against my own better interests ... in short: I could not stop the program from coming back, whatever I tried, including rebooting.

Surely, there must be a way to stop a backup task that was started manually ?!

Heiner, please see KB 60522: Acronis True Image 2018: Windows services and processes  which may help with future issues of this type. You would need to stop the Services before ending any Acronis tasks otherwise the active services will restart the tasks again!

Thank you, Steve - as always ...

Looking at the list of processes / services that you kindly provided the main "culprits" for a normal backup should be:

Process name:
TrueImageHomeService.exe
Service name:
schedul2.exe
schedhlp.exe

And, as you noted, the services should be stopped first.
