PC-Matic "blocks" Acronis True Image 2016
PC-Matic uses a "Whitelist" to allow approved apps to operate. Recently bought this new PC and wanted to create a system image and backup. ATI 2016 was hanging when I tried to run it, but magically started working when I turned off "SuperShield" (PC-Matic's antivirus module) before running ATI 2016.
Tried their solution for adding to the Whitelist, but app did not respond as needed. So now I need to turn off SuperShield before I do any backups.
Also...it appears PC-Matic also blocked the creation of a Windows "system image" and normal Windows Backup procedure while SuperSHield was running.
I guess the good news is that PC-Matic is pretty strong. The bad news is that tech spt suggested I uninstall PC-Matic, create the system image backup, then reinstall PC-Matic....seriously. Why would I do that if all I need to do is turn off SuperSHield.

Thanks for your comments, Steve. Unfortunately, the PC-Matic program does not have the option for "actively" adding to the Whitelist unless you turn on a "Blocked Notification" and then Acronis shows up as a blocked program. I turned on the blocked notification message, but when I run Acronis, it does not show up as blocked (even though it is being blocked) so that I can add it to their whitelist.
So...it is a passive add to the whitelist...when something shows up as blocked, you then get the option to add it. The problem is Acronis does not show up as blocked.
When I turn off SS, Aronis works. Go figure.

Kelly, according to information on the PC-Matic product website, it says:
What does this mean? PC Matic functions by using a list of known, trusted programs and allows them to run. Everything else that tries to execute that is not on our whitelist is sent to our malware research team to be tested. Within 24 hours it is categorized either trusted or malicious.
It does not sound as if the above is working here for you with ATI 2016, i.e. ATI is not being tested and added as a trusted program to their list of applications.
It may be because ATI 2016 is no longer a currently support application by Acronis but you would need to contact the PC-Matic support team to ask why this is how it is?
