Backup Destinations Help

Thread needs solution

Hello, I am new to Acronis Backup 12.5.

I've installed Acronis Backup on a Windows server which has a lot of storage and has been designated our backup server.

I've installed the backup agent on several Windows Server systems on the network.

What I need help with is choosing the backup destination for each server. I want all servers to backup to the actual Acronis Backup Server, to local disks on the backup server, but I can't find a way to do this? If I go to one of the servers in the list (under All Devices), select Enable Backup, then go to Where to Backup > Specify - It selects Local Folder, but the actual disks shown on the Local Folder are for the server selected and not the actual "local disks" of the backup server, which is basically only allowing a remote agent server to backup to itself? All I can see which may work is Network Folder, and backup to a network share on the Backup Server? I've not see something like this before, having been used to using Backup Exec for many years. What is Acronis Storage or Storage Node? Would that be any good?

Also, we have a server in a datacentre (secured by site to site VPN), which we would also like to mirror our backups on to (creating in effect our own cloud backup). Is there a "remote storage" agent or similar, which we could use to do this?

Thank you!

Hi Richard,

>> All I can see which may work is Network Folder, and backup to a network share on the Backup Server?

This would be the easiest way to accomplish the goal - create backup location on network share hosted on the backup server.

Acronis Storage Node component can also be used to install on the same Backup Server and backup location on it can be used as shared between all other clients (it will work similar to network share). The advantages Acronis Storage Node gives is ability to store backups from remote clients to tape drives connected to backup server (centralized tape location) and deduplication capability. Note that before enabling deduplication you should check the Best Practices section in technical whitepaper and make sure that backup server has enough resources to process the backup data.

Thank you.
