Is TI hung and it does not always run
I've installed TI 2018 on my son's Win10 Pro laptop using two different USB drives (odd week and even week). I created a BAT file for each drive to determine when the drive is connected. I also created two schedules, one for each drive. If a drive is not connected TI will fail gracefully, both schedules are set to run each night. I just looked at his PC and noticed the following:
- TI has not been running each night. The PC does go into a sleep state after a period of none use. Should TI wake the PC and run? Did I miss some setting?
- TI was attempting to run and on on the TI BACKUP screen it displayed "Calculating time remaining...". After about 20 minutes, TI still displayed the same screen. Was TI hung?

Steve Much thanks for the FB. I set up the email notification and I see a LOT of failures. Following is the content of one notice. To me the message is very cryptic. I need to remote into my sons PC and get a better look at what is going on and verify everything. In the following. the BAT file failed tells me that the "MT-TP-EVEN-Z-Drive" is not connected and the other drive or this is what it should be telling me. If this is the case it should be failing and not issue a message and the alternate drive should be connected and the other schedule should be running. Now I'm not sure that I modified both schedules to send an email notice. BTW when it runs and does not fail I do see the BU file. The BU drives are both 4TB drives and they are only used for backups thus there should NEVER be a space issue. I set up incremental backups, 6 inc and then a full and I think I'm keeping 10 sets (I'll have to confirm).

John, the key portion of the log file above is in the following lines:
> 2018-08-05T00:36:19:048-05:00 15284 E00010400: Child process has exited with code '9,009'.
> 2018-08-05T00:36:19:049-05:00 15284 E00640085: Execution of user command C:/Check-Z-Even-BU-Drive-Present.bat failed. Error code: 1
As you observed, your Pre-Command batch file looks to have failed to establish that the target backup drive is available hence the backup task aborts.

Steve, I just login to my sons PC, I opened TI and it was attempting to run a backup, e.g. it was calculating the remaining time. I let it sit for about 10 minutes and clicked the stop button, that was about 30 minutes ago and still it is attempting to process the cancel command.
On my desktop if I kick off a TI run, within less than a minute the "calculating remaining time" will disappear and start the BU which is then completed in less than 15 minutes. I expected the same or better on my son's PC. His PC is a new high-end laptop.
I just killed TI via Task Manager and spoke to my son. He said that when TI runs it takes a very long time. All of the drives have bitlocker applied. Are you aware of any issues with bitlocker and TI?
I just started TI, as soon as the main window opened I see "calculating time remaining". I was not expecting it to run just by opening TI. I clicked the stop button
I've added two images (1) the TI window showing "calculating time remaining" (2) file manager view of the TI files created.
At this time I have NOT performed a restore to ensure there are no issues. This is on the MUST do list but I want to have the PC in front of me before I perform this test. I will swap out his HD and replace it with a test drive.
I just added a Speccy summary image.
Possibly you can see something in the images that I don't see.
It now has been about 20 minutes since I last clicked the TI stop button, still TI has not stopped.
I'm stopping for now, pending your feedback. BTW I noticed that I'm creating FULL backups, there are NO incremental backups being created. For now the files are only 44GB, Also I just noticed that TI is not deleting the older backups. I thought I set TI to keep 10 versions. I'd like to confirm this but I cannot get TI to display properly.
Suggestions.........

More info. I just noticed that TI has a problem with one of the backup files. See the image.
The darn window was popping up and closing so fast I did not see it. I captured the image by recording the screen as a video.
- I renamed the file and tried TI again, same failure
- I open the file manager (xplorer2), double-clicked on the file, cannot open, the file is corrupted.
- I tried another backup file, the PW was requested (this is the PW for Bitlocker), I entered the PW but I don't see the contents of the file. I was expecting to see a tree view just as if I was looking at the hard drive.
I seem to have two issues
- I cannot get TI to run because of the existing corrupted file
- I don't know how to view the contents of the TIB file (I will look at the KB and manual)

To view the TIB file I need to open it with windows "File Manager", Xplorer2 does not know how to handle it.

John, the screen shots do not really tell us more than you have already mentioned. What would be more helpful & informative would be the log files for this task and details of exactly what backup scheme options are being used.
You could try getting your son to create an Acronis System Report zip file to see what size that would be? Unfortunately the forum only allows a maximum file size of 2MB but perhaps you could send me a link to a dropbox share or similar via a PM.
Acronis should not have an issue with BitLocker encrypted drives providing that these are transparent to the application, i.e. are unlocked as far as ATI are concerned and any backups created would not be BitLocker encrypted in the .TIB file so should be protected by using the ATI password encryption. BitLocker would need to be reenabled after any recovery of such a backup.

John, your later updates crossed over with my own reply to the initial update you sent.
If your backup files are also being stored on a BitLocker encrypted target drive, then this has to be unlocked before Acronis can find files on it, which could fit in with the error message in your latest screen image (Z:\BU\Acronis.... not available).
ATI integrates only with Windows/File Explorer as far as I understand, not with other third-party file explorers, so opening / mounting .tib files would only be available via this method or using the GUI.

I think I have resolved the issue, I utilized the KB https://kb.acronis.com/content/60915 to delete the corrupted backup file and create a new TI Database. I then started TI and now as expected the TI window opens and nothing happens. I clicked on the button to start a backup, immediately the backup started.
The backup completed without issues per TI.

John, good to hear that you have been able to repair and get TI back on track working normally.
