Can't close Acronis True Image 11 - 50% CPU load

Thread needs solution

Hello,

since some days I have the following problem: True Image finished all backup tasks and I close the True Image window, but the process still runs in the background with 50% CPU load. There are no waiting or scheduled tasks. The last solution is, to kill the process. I'm using WinXP SP3.

Any ideas, what's wrong?

Christian

Which version of TrueImage Home are you using? The new 2011 version or the 2 year old version 11?

What is the name of the process you are stopping?

If you are using the new 2011 version, one thing you can try is to
click on h the hep option in upper right hand corner of your TrueImage Window
Click on "check for updates"
This will perform a check and open a window where you have access to unchecking the "automatic checking for updates" option. All update checking after than will be done manually.

I'm using TrueImage since version 6 or 7 every day, it's the first time, that I have this problem.

The old version 11.

TrueImage.exe

This thread is the problem: TrueImage.exe+0x7ea940 (seen with Process Explorer) - stack:

ntdll.dll!KiFastSystemCallRet
ADVAPI32.dll!RegDeleteKeyW+0x64
fox.dll!FXRegistry::readFromRegistryGroup+0x327

My next suggestion would be to re-install TrueImage--right overtop the existing version. If you do not have the install file, you can download from your registration page via the support link in upper right corner of this web page.

My final suggestion would be to use the new 2011 cleanup utility and uninstall the program. Afterwards, reinstall fresh.

According to the image below, this cleanup tool is applicable to your version.

You can find the download link in my signature below in lower right corner.

I've restored a backup from September for a short test and: I can reproduce the error! Everything is fine, after deleting two backup paths (i don't know the english menu entry, in German it's "Backup Speicher und Archive") and two backups tasks, ATI goes into zombie mode after closing the GUI. I think I know the problem with this backup paths/tasks: The removed directory doesn't exist. I'll check the registry later, maybe I'll find the wrong entries.

If it doesn't help, I'll use the Clean-up Utility, thank you for this hint.
I'll tell you the result :-)

Christian

Perfect, now my Windows is completely damaged. After 5 seconds booting: Bluescreen, every time...
I'll restore the backup. Any ideas now? Slowly, I am really annoyed :-(

No additional suggestions. A good place to start would to restore your system from a backup. If you wish to experiment further, you can give the 2011 trial version a try but that still requires an uninstall before the trial software can be installed.

Hmmm ;-)

btw: I removed ATI 11 (without the Clean-up Utility), cleaned the registry and directories by myself and ... same error again.

I'll try it, since I thought the last few months anyway, to buy the latest version.

Update: LOL, yeah that's too funny. Now TrueImageTools.exe is the problem process - really cool :D

I can't even close true image home 11 through the processes tab. The entries just come back. That would be fine if my money came back at the same time.
