ATIH 2018 and 2019 TRY AND DECIDE, no blue screen at the restart, doesn't start after a few reboot
after one year and 130 e-mails, uploads on their FTP server, try this and that (when they ask to), vidéos, screen shots, picture, reports, correspond with maybe 5 different persons
acronis support answered that they will not fix my issues, I'm the only customer who complain about those issues
so... using this forum I try to find people who have those issues
here is the last e-mail reply : I have checked the status of your case today. Unfortunately there is no solution for this issue yet. I have checked with the developers about the possible ETA for the fix.
Unfortunately, due to the issue complexity and very random nature, we will not have any fix for your issue soon
That is why after having talked to my manager, we have figured out that we currently only have two options to propose you:
1. Refund your order #xxxxxxxxxxx;
2. Put the current ticket into archive and notify you once we have a fix available
Your issue is regarded as random as it can be reproduced only in your environment and is not reproduced in our testing lab or reported by any other Customer. I am very sorry that we were not able to find the solution for your environment in timely manner and I would be glad to get your final decision what exact scenario you choose
weird, i reproduce it anytime on my microsoft windows 10 clean reinstall

@Steve smith
when Try & decide (TnD) is running, if you reboot the computer, there is a blue screen that is SUPPOSE to appear (as in the ATIH 2018 user manual, pages 147 and 148, screen shot attached), I don't have that blue screen if I reboot my computer by the time the TnD is running
the SECOND ISSUE is if I reboot my computer after updated of programs, windows updates, microsoft store, office, i let it run after reboot to let windows modules installer worker, .NET runtime optimazation service, and so and reboot, doing a defrag, reboot, doing acronis system clean up, etc (reboot and try to start TnD, there will be big chances that TnD will fail to start displaying not responding add on 2018 ocotober 23) (every second tuesday of the month, I recover the last month image disc, do the big windows october update and every other programs, and do an image disc for next month). so, i do updates wishing that the last program (updated) used will not ask to restart. BUT I can't stop TnD every day in case that no program have update, TnD will fail to start i ther is no update and i will have to recover my last image disc to be able to start TnD
SO... if I reboot a few times and nothing new is change on the HDD, try and decide fails to start
I send videos, screen shots, explanation, acronis system reports, uploaded everything on the acronis FTP server
(i still have on my vista acronis true image home 2011, and it still works perfectly, no bugs like with ATIH 2017, 2018 and 2019)
those issues happens whenever i reinstall manufacture image, and if i ever do windows updates (or not) without installing any other program, except ATIH 2018 up to date OR ATIH 2019
i had those issues in december 2016 when this computer was brand new with ATIH 2017
*********************************************************************************************
my laptop is a DELL inspiron 5559, all drivers and BIOS up to date
it runs on EUFI, no way to do some Legacy (I uploaded a video on their FTP server to show "trying to do legacy boot")
the HDD is the one original from DELL
what ever is the version of windows 10 (from the version in december 2016 to 1809 (i still on the 1803 by image *.tif and disabled update by gpedit.msc) those two issues are always there
the settings of TnD are notification that it runs in time intervals and space allows, and both are off
in TnD if you install a program you want to try and it ask te reboot to finish the installation, the computer restarts and TnD is off losing the changes by installing, if it works properly, you ask to reboot, the blue screen ask if you want to discard (all the changes done from the time you start TnD or continue, if you choose continue, it restart and still in TnD to try the program that needed a restart to finish the installation
the way you STOP TnD is not REBOOT by the time you're in TnD
Dear Steve, I hope I answered your questionning

Quick update: I checked on another computer where I have ATI 2018 and had used TnD previously.
I enabled TnD on that computer (running Windows 10 64-bit #1803) and did various software updates.
I then stopped TnD and was offered the options to either Apply Changes immediately, or Apply on reboot, or Discard changes. Initially I took the option to Apply immediately, but this seemed to be very slow, so I did a restart.
On restart, I did not get the blue screen shown in the User Guide, instead it showed a black screen with the following text:
Starting Acronis Loader
Starting committing
Status of commit: xx.x% ----->@ (where this line updated and the arrow moved left & right).
I was interrupted by a phone call so didn't see if any further text was displayed, and when I returned to the computer, it was on the normal Windows 10 sign in panel and all my changes had been committed fine.

Daniel, I note that you mention 'doing a defrag' while TnD is active - this is advised to be avoided in the ATI User Guide for TnD as stated below:
Limitations in using Try&Decide
Please be aware that Try&Decide cannot track changes in disk partitions, so you will be unable to use the Try mode for virtual operations with partitions such as resizing partitions or changing their layout. In addition, you must not use the Try&Decide and disk defragmentation or disk error checking utilities at the same time, because this can irreparably corrupt the file system, as well as make the system disk unbootable.

i start TnD AFTER all these actions there, and after a few reboot, if there is nothing new on the HDD (like no update as exemple) TnD fails to start. i never had those problems on my vista and acronis 2011 (that still run)
Steve, I really appreciate your questions, thank you, i see that i did wrong explanation (excuse my french)
i never did a defrag with TnD running
the text was suppose to be :

I added the bold underline in my "header paragraph"
thank you again Steve
can you tell me if you get the blue screen asking to continue or discard if you reboot the computer by the time you're in TnD running ?

Daniel, I do get the TnD blue screen if I restart with TnD enabled... BUT, I then hit several issues that remind me why I do not like TnD!
The first issue was that the options on the TnD blue screen / the process behind these, did not recognise my keyboard or mouse which is connected via a KVM device (shared with 3 other computers). This meant that the Continue option should have been selected by default after 30 seconds which leads to the second issue!
After connecting a spare USB keyboard & mouse to select the Continue or allowing it to timeout, all that happened was that my computer restarted and came back to the same TnD blue screen! It did this multiple times while I was finding the spare keyboard..
The only option that allowed me to get back into Windows 10 was to choose the TnD Discard option on the blue screen! I was mentally preparing myself in case I needed to restore my most recent backup, as the first thing that Windows 10 on starting after the Discard choice was to run a CHKDSK for my OS drive!

Steve, first of all thank you very much for tried for me if you got the blue screen at the reboot with TnD running
the choice by default of "continue" at the blue screen you got, reminds me that with my vista running ATIH 2011, if i don't select it goes "continue" by default
i don't know nothing about what is KVM... for the running in round in "continue", here comes my mind, don't take it as pure truth... the wired USB keyboard and mouse are on the POST (power on self test) at the reboot and the wireless keyboard and mouse are running with a driver
i can tell you that my ATIH 2011 is working without any bug, i started everyday TnD, turning it off, discard all changes every day, and going on what ever is the number of restarts and runs well on windows 7 too

Daniel, the KVM is simply a shared Keyboard, Video & Mouse that allows me to have just one each of these to use with 3 different computers - the connection is still via USB, not wireless.
