Cloning 64GB ssd to new 256GB ssd

Thread needs solution

I have windows 7 Pro x64 system with a 64GB boot drive ssd. I just ordered a new Crucial C300 256GB ssd and was wondering if the Acronis True Image Home 2011 software would make a problem free cloned image from the 64GB to 256GB ssd. If so could someone lay out the steps I would need to take to make it happen.

Thanks,

I to am interested to hear the answer to this.

It should work fine. But it is very important that you use your Windows 7 install CD to partition your new drive first. Windows 7 maintains the correct alignment that is absolutely necessary to maintain performance on SSD's. Acronis will not create the partition with the right alignment without this step. There are several posts in this forum that address this particular issue. Try a search for "SSD alignment". Best of luck.

2011 supports SSD's just fine: creations of partitions, cloning (I don't recommend cloning) of disk will result in aligned disks, for example.

Look at this for cloning (I don't recommend cloning)

Did I mention I don't recomment cloning? Everyday, we see folks making mistakes or encountering h/w issues during cloning that result in disastrous consequences.

Do a backup of your original disk, restore it, from booting on the recovery CD, on your new disk after you have exchanged the disks.
