Restore OS to different drive (letter)?

Thread needs solution

I apologize if this has been addressed, I dug through the forums and did not find anything that clearly addressed this.

I just rebuilt my machine, installing WinXP and all associated updates. I realized afterwards though that because I had a usb device attached during the install my HD with the OS got the drive letter G:

I'm hoping I can maybe do a backup/image and restore it so it takes a C: drive letter and boots/works, as I'd rather not have to start all over again.

Is this possible, or am I hooped? Thanks...

A back up and restore won't fix it. While it is possible to change the drive letter (at least mostly), I've found it to often result in a less stable system. Even though you don't want to, it would probably be best to start over.

Use disk manager in control panel you can rename it.

Disk Management does not allow changing the drive letter of the system volume or boot volume.
