There has been a signature failure- IBM Z60t
An image was created with Acronis Snap Deploy 3.0.3292 from an IBM Z60t laptop. The computer was sysprepped with an answer file and the image was made onto a USB drive after a PXE boot. The master computer works fine but none of the twenty targets will boot past POST. The error message I get repeats over and over- There has been a signature failure. I have used the same program to clone a group of five towers and they worked fine.
Ideas, anyone?

The hard drive on the master was failing. This apparently forced the laptop to attempt to boot from the service partition.
The problem is no fault of Acronis.

it looks like there's smth wrong with the source PC. try to run the chkdsk to check for errors.

You are right. The problem has been resolved.

just imaged a laptop after downloading the latest snap deploy boot cd. first problem was that server was trying to deploy 3 partitions when there were only 2 on the source image. So things looked like they were fine until the transfer finished. Although the system rebooted immediately and went into the snap deploy screen. I canceled out of that and tried to boot the laptop and got "There has been a signature failure". I read the previous post, but don't think it's a HDD issue, as the drive was working just fine before this.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello David,
Thank you for your post. I will definitely help you with this.
As I have mentioned in my private message to you, this issue can be caused by errors on the source hard drive, a factory partition which was included in the image and then deployed with a resize.
I would really appreciate if you can get back to me in case you are still running into this issue.
Thank you.

I am still having this problem.
I have tried several different modifications to the source image, but still get the signature failure.
When I try to install the source image, unmodified, I get a resize error.
pelase advise.

Hello David,
Thank you for replying.
Can you please let me know more about the resize error? What does it say exactly and at what step does it occur.
I would really appreciate if you can also send me the logs that I have requested in my private message to you, or, you can generate the same logs and submit a support request if you require immediate assistance.
If you have any other questions or other issues, please let me know.
Thank you.

The "Signature Failure" error is still a problem. I cloned T60 and T43 laptops with Snap Deploy build 3329 on Friday and had to modify the boot record on every one. Each laptop had a master created from its same make and model; T60 image made from a T60, etc. The only way I could get them to boot and finish the deployment was with a boot manager installed on a shared partition. The laptops were fine once they started from the right partition and finished the Windows mini-setup. I could then delete the boot manager and the laptops started fine.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Upgrade to release 3337 and deployment will work fine. No more errors, no more manual boot record modification.

I have the same problem with Lenovo X61.
1. Where to find release 3337? 3329 is the realese I have and that is also the release on Acronis update site.
2. I have an image (.TIB) from a master computer. It´s possible to restore that image to about 70% of my X61 computers. But on the rest I got the error "signature error". I have tried to install Windows 7 and completly remove all partions before the restore, but I got the same error all the time on some computers.
I think the problem is related to Lenovo. I also have 30 Acer computers, and never seen the error on them.
Any idea?

Hello Pirre,
Thank you very much for your post and welcome to our forum. I will definitely assist you.
Signature errors on Lenovo machines is a known issue in Acronis Snap Deploy 3 and the fix has not been included in the official build yet. However, we had a temporary build 3337, update to 3412 now, that was created for Lenovo machines exclusively. I will send you a download link for it in a few minutes.
We are planning to release a new build for Acronis Snap Deploy 3 in the near future, at the moment I cannot provide you with a release date where this fix for Lenovo machines will be implemented.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.

Hi Anton.
1. I have now installed the 3412 version, but sorry to say I have the same problem.
I have tested on two Lenovo X61 computers where I had the problem before.
2. What exactly do I need to install, maybe I don´t understand your install menu...
Choice 1 "Snap deploy management console" is installed, after that I can see that the version of the console is 3412.
Choice 2 "license server", not upgraded today, I have the license server feature on another box.
Choice 3 "OS Deploy server" impossible to install because it says I have no license, do I need this?
Choice 4 "PXE server" installed today.
Choice 5 "Management Agent" same as 3, no license found... strange... I´m using this agent in my clients???
Choice 6 "Wake on lan", a feature I dont use today.
Server is not restarted, do I need to do that? Not so easy with alot of users.
Any idea?

May I add something to this thread? I too was having issues deploying images. Lenovo laptops have a hidden partition - called PDA in the Security section of the BIOS screen. So I disabled the PDA partition, then deployed the template "as master image" rather than "whole drive". Laptops now boot and continue with the template instructions.
I hope that helps.

Thanks for the help.
I think you are right, but I can´t find the setting in the Lenovo X61 BIOS.
I hope that Acronis will try to answer...

I can´t wait anymore for a reply from Acronis.
I have bought over 30 licenses I can´t use :-(
I will try Symantec Ghost with the switch "-ib" in the mean time.
Hope that will work better.

Hello Pirre and Tech Nician!
Thank you for your comments!
Tech Nician, thank you for specifying the solution that worked for you, we really appreciate it!
Pirre, I'm sorry for the inconvenience you've met. According to all our support records, you never had a case opened with support regarding this issue; Anton sent you the updated build via Forum Private Message, and we never heard from you since then. So we have no diagnostic information or any mention that the solution doesn't work. We're eager to set things right and make this work for you, but we had no idea that the issue persists. We never reproduced it in our lab.
We will entirely understand should you decide to leave everything as it is, but we would appreciate if you could tell us what exactly's happening, and send the Acronis Linux Report from the PXE server.
Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!
Thank you!
