Fox.dll

Thread needs solution

Hello:

When I reboot my computer, I get

"The procedure entry point ?getText@FXTextField@@QBE?AVFXWString@@XZ could not be located in the dynamic link library fox.dll."

I have Windows XP Home
True Image Home 2010
C:\Program Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Common\fox.dll
C:\Program Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome\fox.dll

What should I do?

Regards,

Hans L

Hello Hans,

I understand the issue you experience and can assure you that it has a resolution.

The issue is only with installing Acronis True Image Home 2010 over an older version of the product.

In order to solve the issue please do the following:

·         Uninstall Acronis True Image Home 2010 through Add/Remove Programs. If you have an older version of Acronis True Image Home installed, remove it with Acronis CleanUp Utility;

·         Do a clean installation of Acronis True Image Home 2010.

If the issue persists, please contact Acronis Customer Central with a reference to this article and the following information:

·         System report, if you have Acronis True Image Home 2010 installed. See Acronis True Image Home 2010: Generating System Report;

·         Output of AcronisInfo Utility if you have an older version of Acronis True Image Home installed.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.

Hello Dmitry:

Thanks for your answer. I had not set my settings in this new forum (no longer Wilder), so I did not get a notification e-mail. I will try what you suggested, and get back.

Regards,

Hans L

I have the same problem on boot up but this is a new computer Win 7 64 bit with NO PREVIOUS ACRONIS programs installed..

Can I get some help with this.. I posted before and the post was removed..

It's clear no one in support really understands this problem or knows how to escalate it so that there is an appropriate answer.

If you don't know how to fix this then say so but don't just ignore the problems clients send you in forums.

I am a long time client of Acronis and support always has been an issue, I have been luckey not to have too many problems in the past but I have no confidence now that I will continue to use or RECOMMEND the products based upon the support that seems indifferent.

Hello,
No need to uninstall anything, the problem is in the version of the library Fox.dll. The version that is installed with the True Image 2009-2010 is the 2.0.0.3, while it is installed with the True Image 2011 is the 2.0.0.4, simply replace this by the old (2.0.0.3) in the corresponding folders and all fixed.

A greeting

The old 2.0.0.3, can be rescued from any copies made with True Image 2009/2010.

Context:

My exact version is 10.0.4940: it works fine (actually I failed to ever upgrade to Acronis 11 as my RAID configuration was not properly supported with the newer version and went back to Acronis 10.x years ago. It already helped me to recover 3 times from disasters.

However, I am facing a problem similar to this post: I wanted to regenerate a "disaster recover media" in Acronis 10 but faced the fact that the functionality (and only that one) is not available as the fox.dll library is (reported and verified as) missing.

Probably the library was incorrectly installed (years ago!) by Acronis in a TEMP directory that was later purged   ...and I have no backup going back to the time where I could still find it. There is no more trace about it.

Questions

1/ is there any way to recover/reinstall the fox.dll without taking the risk to uninstall/reinstall Acronis as the rest of the functionality is working seamlessly? Should I try to "repair" installation?

2/ Alternatively, I am considering to "live without fox.dll" but I recentely upgraded my DVD burner, that was deficient, and moved from an IDE one to a SATA one. Do you think I have to regenerate a new rescue media so that the "driver settings" would be updated accordingly or can I still rely on the media I had generated originally.  It is indeed not clear if the media is a "fixed one" or if it "dynamically incorporate specific drivers on the spot when you generate a new one".

Thanks in advance for your collaborative support!
