External E: Drive with backup shows in File Explorer, True Image 2018 has a red 'X', why?
I would like to restore a backup that shows successful back on May 2018. Only problem is True Image 2018 shows the red 'X'. Why and how do I get around this? Thanks.
Oh, I can drill down through the backup just fine with file explorer so I know the backup is good.

Windows 10 Pro
Version 1803 64-bit (Installed 5/20/2018)
Build 17134.345
ATI 2018 Build 12510 (Up to date)
External Backup Drive: 3TB WDC WD30 EFRX-68EUZNO
Internal Drive: 1TB Samsung 860 EVO
I had cloned the original OEM drive to this new SSD a couple of weeks back. When Microsoft decided to release the latest buggy update and it caused me to lose my main login I decided to upgrade to this SSD before attempting to restore a backup from May 2018. The backup I made was not bootable. Booting is fine, I just want to restore things back to May.
Let me know what else I can provide here. Thanks.

I find no way to validate as ATI does give me that option. May be because of the red 'X'?

I would only like to restore the users since M/S fouled up my main login. I had spent two days with M/S remote support techs and the last one deleted my username and all files associated.
Since I realize now that if I do a successful restore from that May 2018 backup, this new SSD may not boot due to configuration change!?
Thinking about this while entering this text I understand that the user login data in the registry is deleted so restoring the registry might be a fix but what other problems will I have by not restoring the complete C: backup?

If you have not already done so I would make a backup of your 'corrupted' Windows installation. This will allow you to recover you user files (documents etc) once you get the system running again. I would be tempted to use recovery media to create the backup rather than doing it from Windows.
Before doing anything more I would wait a few hours for more input as I have limited expertise to assist you. Most of the MVPs and other switched on users are in North America or Europe and they will not become active on the forum for some hours.

Ian, I booted from a CD made using the Recovery method recommended. I did choose the legacy method since the BIOS did not show that I was using UEFI. I may go back and review as after boot I was given the desktop and opened ATI 2018 but still have the same problem as before.
Now I am wondering since I had made the backup using version 2017 is there a problem but I would think 2018 would be able to restore such a recent version. I am able to open the FULL TIB backup and browse with file explorer.

Here are a couple of screenshots. The first shows a full backup on my NAS and as completed. Click on the recovery tab and it says there is no data to recover. I don't get it.
I am not sure how to paste a screenshot here so I have uploaded the two images.

This is not recommended and may leave you with even more problems than you have now unless all you are restoring is user data such as documents, images, music etc. You should not attempt to restore user profiles without doing a full OS restore so that you have everything in sync.

Do you still have the original OEM drive you cloned from? If yes, then this will be much more upto date than your May backup, or the Sept 2017 backup on your NAS. This would give you the option of repeating the clone operation again, but as advised by Ian, please backup both the original drive and the problem SSD first to a different external drive, so that you have a way of accessing any other data that might be present on those drives should it be needed, or if any accidents happen when pressing keys...!
For your screen images, you will probably need to do a validation for the task with the files on your NAS for the Recovery panel to show any data, but again, you really need to be doing this type of OS recovery using the rescue media, which in turn will require a wired network connection to your NAS.
A screen image of your second backup task with the red X showing the Backup, Activity and Recovery pages and showing the bottom buttons would be helpful.
