Acronis True Image Home 2010 not continue to install?

Thread needs solution

OS: Win7 64-Bit
Download file for Acronis True Image 2010 (not CD)

I've performed a clean uninstall of Acronis True Image 2010 Home and tried to reinstall Acronis True Image Home 2010 v13.0.0.7046, but get this warning message when starting to install:

"The installation was interrupted before acronis true image home could be installed. you need to restart the installer to try again."

Question: Why will not Acronis True Image Home 2010 continue to install?

Thanks

I've followed the instructions here for 2011 version of Acronis True Image. 13923: Acronis True Image Home 2011: Creating an MS Installer Log. (I'm using the 2010 version of Acronis True Image)

Attached is the MS Installer Log

Also, Temp folder has been cleaned.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Hello reio98387,

Thank you for posting. I will definitely help you with this.

According to the log you kindly provided, the installation fails because some program components failed to update properly:

1: MSIGEN:Error occured during CheckForUpgradeCode for {941B4DD3-680B-549F-C7CB-C3DD74998C5D}: 1605
CustomAction DetectMsiMajorUpgradables returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)
Action ended 23:33:21: DetectMsiMajorUpgradables. Return value 3.

To resolve the issue, please press Start->Run->Regedit find and delete the following registry key starting with this value:

3DD4B149

Try installing the program again and if it fails, I would really appreciate if you can provide me with a new .msi log.

Just in case you need immediate support, you can always contact our Support team directly.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Thanks!

Acronis True Image 2010 Home was successfully installed.

Questions:
1) What was registry key 3DD4B149 ? What program did not properly update, please?

2) Would you provide the download link for the latest version of Acronis Clean-up Utility for Acronis True Image 2010?

3) I have another issue with Acronis, if you can help me with. Briefly, after successfully re-installing Acronis True Image 2010, a pop-up window for one-click backup asks for configuration. That window lists E:\My Backup

With the previous install of Acronis 2010, I tried changing E: to another partition. Initially, the backup would be performed on another partition, but after restarting Acronis, it defaults to E: partition. I would like to permanently remove the default location Acronis is pointing to as E: partition.

Question:
How do edit the registry so that Acronis on-click location is D: partition (it has room) OR permanently remove one-click option from Acronis through registry fix? (I don't want to use the one-click feature and would like to remove the location to default to E: partition also, please)

Hello reio98387,

Thank you for getting back to me.

The registry key belonged to Acronis True Image Home 2010 and that component of our program failed to update properly. You can use this clean up utility but please make sure that you have created a full backup of your computer just in case.

Unfortunately it will not be possible to make any registry changes in order to change the default backup location for Acronis one-click backup, this feature was designed to quickly make a full backup of a system partition. However, you can create regular scheduled backups to another partition without the inconvenience of modifying one-click backup every time. Please check page 40 of our User Guide which is available here.

If you have additional questions please let me know.

Thank you.

1) You gave me the 2011 cleanup utility (it is NOT compatible with 2010). Would you provide the link for the Acronis True Image Home 2010 cleanup utility, please?

reio98387,
Return to the cleanup utility link provided by Anton and revisit the cleeanup utility link. Click on the first picture and it will enlarge so you can read all the various versions for which this cleanup can be used and 2009 and 2010 is listed as one of those for which the cleanup utilty can be used.
