Backup & Restore of management console

Thread needs solution

We are new to Acronis all around and v12 is our first version to use.  If you are running the management console on a dedicated workstation how do you restore it if it crashes?

How do you get the management/console database back after rebuilding the machine?

Can Acronis restore the management database from a backup of that workstation?

Didn't see anything in the v12 documentation on this subject?

Thanks

Hi,

You can back up the machine where you have Acronis Backup 12 installed, i.e. where the core Acronis Management Server component with web console is running (these components are installed by default). In other words Acronis Backup 12 can back up itself if you have everything running on the same machine. If you recover this machine from backup there will be no need to separately recover the database since it will be restored along with all the recovered disks/volumes data.

Thank you.

Thank you for the feed back.  To be able to RECOVER the machine I assume you would need to reinstall Acronis 12 and then point it to where the backups are stored.  Is this correct?

Hi,

The typical scenario is to use bootable media for recovery (boot target system from this media and run recovery) - it can be either downloaded from your Acronis account as an .iso image or created by Acronis Bootable Media Builder which is installed by default as part of Acronis Backup 12.

Thank you.

How does the scenario change to restore the management server/console if that machine is a Hyper-V VM rather than a physical box?

If you have everything running inside a Hyper-V machine then the recovery flow would be the same as in my previous reply, i.e. prepare bootable media->create a new Hyper-V VM->boot this VM from the bootable media->run recovery from Acronis Backup 12 bootable media interface.

What if i wants to transfer management console 12.5 from one system to another system?

or

Is there any way where i can restore all the setting of the management console  setting. consider there is no backup agent agent installed ?

Is there any import / export utility to do the same

Acronis Backup 12.5 does not currently have an inbuilt tool for migrating Acronis Management Server to a different machine. This feature is being developed and it is planned to be available in future releases of the product.

If you need to move Acronis Management Server to a different machine, you need to install Management Server on a new machine and set up the configuration from scratch. The following article will help you to facilitate the task https://kb.acronis.com/content/61354

Hi,

There should be work around for this, as there are multiple situation where this backup management console backup is needed.

Waiting for experts reply .
