TCP PORTS

Thread needs solution

Hello,

We have in our devices Mcaffee installed. We have opened the tcp port 9876.
In the server we add a new device by ip the agent connect fine but If we add a new device by host name the activation fail because we a tcp port closed. Do you know what is the port that we need?

See the attached file.

Hello Angel,

Thank you very much for choosing Acronis, and for reporting this problem.

I had a look to the screenshot that you posted, and there is something that it is not clear to me. Do you have the AMS and the machine with the agent in the same LAN and subnet? Do you have any other corporate firewall, apart from McAfee? Do you have the DC in the same subnet, or in another office or subnet?

If you register a machine with the hostname in the AMS, this means that the AMS will need to contact your Domain Controller and/or DNS server in order to resolve the hostname.

The fact that you can connect using the IP address means that the agent can be managed by the AMS without any problem, so the issue is not related to the agent, but to the AMS. In other words, the AMS can't successfully resolve the hostname.

In some cases, we have seen that entering the fully qualified domain name (not only the short hostname) makes a difference, so if you have not tried it, please, give it a go.

Please, let us know the results.

Thanks,
Asier

Hello,

Thanks for your anwser.

The issue is in the Mcaffee. I explain to you.
I enter in the AMS an add the new machine. Is it possible select by IP or Name. I enter the IP and agent connect with the AMS and create teh confidence, with this method the problem is when the IP adress change the backup fail because don't find the device.
If in AMS enter the hostname the AMS doesn't connect by the client.
I'm sure that the mcaffee close a tcp port, because if I open all the ports the AMS find the device by name.
