Restore help

Thread needs solution

I have an acronis .tib backup file(WDC WD10EZCX-60M2 NA0_FULL_B2_S1 _ V1.tib) on an external hard drive. I have installed a new solid state drive as a data drive in my computer. This is just a secondary drive for data.

How do I restore the image of the .tib backup onto my new drive, so I can see the actual folders and files on the new solid state drive?

David, welcome to these public User Forums.

If you only want to be able to browse the contents of your Acronis .TIB file then provided you have Acronis True Image installed on your computer, then you can use the Windows Shell integration feature of ATI to either Mount or browse the contents of the .TIB file from Explorer.

To do this, simply right-click on the .TIB file in Explorer then select Mount from the Acronis True Image menu shown, or else just double-click on the .tib file then explore the contents.

To restore the backup image to your drive, then you again would either need ATI to be installed in order to recover the image or else you would need to create the Acronis bootable Rescue Media and do the restore from the (safer) offline ATI application.

David, thank you for the private message.  Please keep the discussion here in the forum where possible.

To post screen images of what you are seeing when you double-click on your WDC... .tib file in Explorer, capture the screen images then click on the icon from the toolbar, then click on the Upload button, Select the image file(s) and finally click on Select to insert in your post.

Doing this will help us to better help you with this question.

Thanks Steve for getting back to me. Maybe now I can include the screen shots I was talking about earlier. I didn't realize I was sending you a private message. Just goes to show you how new I am to these message boards, but I'm learning.

David, the D: drive in your image looks to be the boot partition from your drive, not your OS partition, so the files you are seeing are all related to boot activity.

Try opening / exploring the F: drive in your image which should show your own files / folders.

Hi Steve.

I think I'm starting to understand. The D: drive is where I stored the Acronis backup file and the F: drive is the data from that file. When I looked into the F: did contain understandable folders and files.

I did manage to do a recovery of the backup onto my new secondary SSD by booting from the Acronis media builder CD. So now I have what I wanted to accomplish. The only down side is that the last back up I did before the crash was June of 2017. When will I ever learn to backup more often.

Thanks for all your help.

David

David, glad that you have got your data back and onto the new SSD even if it is not as recent as you would have desired!  We all tend to learn the 'hard' way by losing some data before making an effort to make more regular backups!
