DD11 Build 2121 and OS Selector

Thread needs solution

Before I go through the pain of installing OSS can Acronis please tell me is this a fixed version of OSS or the same version that was released with DD11 Build 216?

There is nothing on this subject from what I can see in the release notes.

I haven't yet heard back from anyone at Acronis as to what changes (if any) were made to OSS. I also have not gotten any testing done with OSS yet, but I hope to soon.

The OSS programs have been added to the DD CD so that's one big step. I'm hoping there were some other fixes too, though.

Ray / Frank,

I have only had time to do a little testing so far. It is a different build of OSS than the one included with 216 (build 3,034 vs. 3024) so I expect that there were some changes. Acronis has not been forthcoming with any release notes or information on what changed (no surprise there). It's possible they only fixed the "trial version" problem.

So I don't have to go back and read through your posts, could you please post in this thread the basics of the problems you were having with the 216 version? I may be able to check some of them for you.

I may actually update my OSS 10 with this new version (assuming it works well enough). I want to check that the bootable media OSS programs work first, though.

Well I did try it but it has the same old issue that I have to manually configure the two hidden other OS partitions. And this time it did not see one OS - but I have not had the time to find out why just yet. It seem that the only things fixed where allowing it to be put o the CD and (maybe) the licensing issue, only time will tell with that one.

I have a Hewlett-Packard dual hard drive PC. It came with Vista installed in '0' C drive. I attempted unsuccessfully to install Win 7 (purchased disk) over Vista saving all data and applications. I called Microsoft and fortunately got a tech that really knew his stuff. However, after several unsuccessful attempts he advised me to do a clean install. I didn't want to do that so instead we installed Win 7 in the other hard drive on partition E, leaving Vista intact on drive C. I managed to transfer all my applications and data from Vista to Win 7. My problem now is that Vista has problems and I want to format drive C so I can install a different OS there. However, I have been told that I will not be able to boot Win 7 if I format drive C. I will appreciate help and will give more information if needed.
Thanks, DL

Are you saying that Acronis finally added OSS to the bootup CD for DD11 ? Not having that for the original DD11 was ridiculous. Has that now been corrected ?

Edward,

That's correct. The OSS programs have been added back to the DD CD. DD 11 has also regained a lot of what it lost from DD 10.

Thanks ! I will go to my Acronis update page and download the latest DD 11.

@Mudcrab
That is really VERY good news ! It seems Acronis would listen to it's users finally...

Thread hijacking is not considered very polite...just start your own, if you want ANY answer !

MudCrab, does this include the ability to hide and unhide partitions with one or two mouse clicks, or do we still have to manually change the partition type (e.g. from 07 to 17)?

2nd Q: Did you happen to notice if we can run chkdsk from the recovery media?

Either I did not see this in the release notes or I read them too fast.

Thanks

The normal Hide/Unhide functions are back.

You still can't run chkdsk from the rescue media.
