Could I use Acronis True Image for this?
My WinXP SP3 based Laptop Hard Disk have begun to fail due to a problem in my previous AC adapter when I turned on my laptop.
The problem is when I run the Laptop in WinXP Safe Mode I get errors like:
"multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Drivers...."
In Windows mode there are no errors, just in Safe Mode only.
In fact the laptop WORKS FINE but it is extremelly SLOW. Now the laptop startup take more time than usual.
I have done both a BIOS HDD-self test and Memory Check Diagnostic and there were No problems. All tests passed.
I have done a CHKDSK run on the hard disk and there were No problems.
I have checked it with all possible antivirus/malware programs and there are No problems.
MY HARD QUESTION:
I want to format this Hard Disk because I think it is the easiest way to solve this issue, but I don't want to reinstall all again.
Could I create an HD image, then format the HD and reinstall a clean Windows XP OS?
Then could I copy back the image previouslly saved and voila!....Could everything work fine again?
I want to save the image in a external USB hard disk.
