TI 2011 on Win7 64bit not usable - different problems

Thread needs solution

Hi Acronis,

my Installation of TI 2011 (Build 5519) really is not usable on Windows 7 64bit.

1.) If trying to do a new Backup, The Destination is not choiceable (pls look at attachment) => no backup can be created

2.) Same if I try to change backup-parameters on Backups which are made by TI 2010, its not possible to fill the Destination

3.) I've tried zu Consolidate a incremental backup done with TI2010 to the last inc. backup. It stops at 39 GB (That could be a real size). At trying to validate the consolidated Backup i get the message that the Backup can not be validated.

4.) The next try to consolidate that backup leads to unreadable Volume 0 of the Base-Backup. In other words: TI 2011 has destroyed my original backup what means i do not have an actual backup of my system-Partition.

5.) While Scanning the old backups on my volumes, the list grows and grows. So i do not want all of the old Backups in my List. I try to delete Backups from list with Actions/More/Delete from List and acknowledge to delete - But tha Backup stays already in my list

While the issue 5 is only annoying, to fix issues 1 to 4 is mandatory to use TI 2011 on a productional System.
Please fix the issues or give me hints to get TI functional.

Thanks

In Addition:

I uninstalled the product at least 2 times.
After the last Uninstallation I deleted all Temp-Dirs and All dirs with "Acronis" in Name.
Also i scanned the registry for "Acronis" and deleted every Value or Key.

Then I reinstalled but got the same issues.

Also i got some new issues: If trying to do some actions (i.e. Trying to delete an backup from the list) TI 2011 freezes and has to be killed.
This also happens while in an backup (the TI-Process does not react anymore) or an consolidation

Ok, Folks -

3 days without a comment of Acronis in this post and without a comment on my call (i made a call to support in addition to this forum post).

I go back to TI 2010 and have a look to other backup-Software solutions for the future. Thanks Acronis.

I'm not of the opinion that a satisfied customer should wait over 3 days to get a solution for a problem in a paid application.

Solvation is more than miles away in TI 2011 - I don't pay for some beta software anymore.

Thomas,

Should you want or need official Acronis support, the procedure is for you to complete a written support request.  This begins by clicking the support button in upper right corner. You can also get more info about completing a support request  by clicking on my signature index below and select item 1-Z from within the index.

A possible answer for items #1 and #2 may be below.

Hi Grover,

thanks for answering.

I already opened an official support call. But no answer so far.
The Post in this forum was written 1 day after opening a support issue.

Thanks for helping me about the Problem that no Destination-Folder ist choiceable - But exactly that is the Problem.
The Destination-Folder Box can not be choiced. I can click like dirty but do not get the chance to fill a Folder or choice a folder from a box.

Meanwhile I guess that i solved it for myself ;-)

It seems that the Problem was that i had to many Backups (TI2010) on my Harddisks (Roundabout 30 Backups with ~ 1 TB data).

TI 2011 scanned the backups for hours and while scanning had the Problem that the Destination-Directory box could be filled only once. The second time trying to establish a new backup leads to impossibility of filling the Dest-Dir.

After Changing ALL Extensions of my old Backup to .tib.old the problem doesn't seem to exist anymore.

I did not try to consolidate a TI 2010 Image again (Issues #3 and #4 of original post) but I suppose that this could be the same problem.
It should not be a problem of my system (6 core 3000 MHz CPU's, Win7-64bit, 4 GB RAM, SATA300 - SATA600)

The Problem # 5 seems to be a known issue since i guess that the problem with not deleting from list may be equal to a problem that backups could not be deleted within TI 2011 and have to be deleted in Filesystem.

Thomas,
I'm not sure I can be of any more help. The next "soon to be released" build for 2011 is expected to provide a solution for most of your issues mentioned above. I suggest you download and install when it becomes available. I have tested a test version of the new build and I believe you will find the next build is an improved version.

Often times an un-install is not necessaryi. An alternate method is to restart the same install file again. After the install starts, you are given a repair option plus a modify option. The repair option does pretty much the same a new install.
