Thread needs solution

I attached a SATA docking station to my PC by eSATA cable. SATA drive in the docking station is not recognised as an external drive. When a connect the docking station by USB then the drive is recognised. Why

Karlheinz, eSATA is considered to be an extension of the internal SATA bus and thus any drives considered to be internal, not external.

Steve, so I can't create an ATI Survival Kit on a drive attached through eSATA and have to use USB ? Is there any technical reason for this restriction ?

You could create the Survival Kit when the drive is connected via your Docking station when connected via USB then disconnect and connect back to your eSata.

You would need to choose to boot from that eSata drive in the BIOS options to boot from the Survival Kit.

Glad to hear that it worked for you and thank you for the feedback for others to find.
