Cannot create a backup of the specified type in archive because it contains backups of another type. A backup archive can contain backups of one type only.

Thread needs solution

I have the product since last July. It was running fine until last full backup which was December 25th. I run full on Fridays after work then incremental during week. Now I get this error: Cannot create a backup of the specified type in archive 'computer name here, I have 10' because it contains backups of another type. A backup archive can contain backups of one type only. What is this? How do I fix it? The only thing I can think of is that the NAS backups are on is running out of space so I deleted the oldest from last July and August. Manualy deleted it. Is that what caused the error?

Hello Tom,

welcome to Acronis forums!

Yes, a manually deleted backup file from a backup set (archive) caused the backup archive inconsistency.

First of all, please check if all Acronis Backup 12.5 components are updated to the latest build #11010.

Please do not modify or delete this backup plan if you want us to investigate the issue. You can disable this backup plan and create a new one similar to this to keep your system backed up. Then please follow this KB article to collect the diagnostic information and contact Acronis Support Team.

In future, if you need to delete a backup, please follow the recommended instructions on how to delete unwanted backups in Acronis Backup 12.5 UI.
