Multiple ESXi Virtual Appliances

Thread needs solution

I am trying to run 2 ESXi standalone servers (not using vCenter) using a single Backup Management Server. I have successfully installed the appliances multiple times and get them 100% working with communications and backups. My problem is if an appliance is restarted it will never reconnect to the Management Server - it sits and spins in Waiting for MMS.  I have upgraded to the latest 12.5.11010 and that did not fix it.  It seems like the Management Server thinks they are the same agent or only wants 1 to run at a time, possibly due to a duplicate GUID that I can't find. I changed the Annotation GUID for each Appliance on vSphere since they started out the same and that didn't help. Is anyone running my setup?  Also, does anyone know how to use the console on the appliance to clear out the old settings so "change" becomes an option on the GUI? Right now I have to delete and redeploy the image anytime one ever restarts. It works as long as the appliance never stops, but I really don't want to wait for it to happen again to me or someone else.

Hello Chris,

welcome to Acronis forums and sorry for not answering your thread.

Looks like you are right in your suggestion that there could be an IP conflict due to a duplicate GUID. Do you use static IP addressing? It could be an issue with the network configuration on the appliance side, so I'd first of all tried assigning a different IP to it to see how it works.

When configuring deployment from the web console, please make sure you select proper virtual network and define correct IP settings to be used by appliance.

Another possible reason of this issue could be overloaded virtual disks on that VA. To check it, please go to VA via ESXI console and press CTRL-ALT-F2 to switch to the command line. Then issue:
df -h
and make a screenshot of the output.

Also, does anyone know how to use the console on the appliance to clear out the old settings so "change" becomes an option on the GUI?

You will not be able to change settings until the virtual appliance connects to Management Server.

Hi Maria,

Management Server: 172.16.4.1 / 255.255.252.0

ESXi-1: 172.16.7.1 with VA-1 of 172.16.7.251, all pings work

ESXi-2: 172.16.7.2 with VA-2 of 172.16.7.252, all pings work

Images attached.

Thanks,

Chris

Hello Chris,

could you please clarify whether the 489585-164267.jpg screenshot of the output has been taken from VA after reproducing the issue (unable to reconnect to the Management Server)?

If yes, then please reproduce this issue again, export this VA into .OVF format and contact Acronis Support Team to investigate this connectivity issue.

Maria, I rebooted the VA and reproduced the connectivity problem. The df -h command output shows /dev/sda1 reduced from 854.6 to 835.8M after, all else the same. I will contact support as you suggest.
