Multiple Full Backups in TI11 renamed with postfixed (number) with Single Version Scheme selected

Thread needs solution

All full backups in TI11 are not replaced with subsequent backups. Since I use an external USB hard-drive to store the disk image backups, I quickly run out of hard-drive space. This problem occurs whether I manually run the scheduled task or let it run automatically at its scheduled time. The second full backup is post-fixed with ( number), i.e. Backup(1). Subsequent backups increment the number, i.e, Backup(2), Backup(3), etc. The previous full backup is never replaced even though I have the Single Version Scheme selected.

I have uninstalled and re-installed TI11 a few times now, but the problem persists.

I am running Win7 Home Premium 64-bit on an HP Pavillion.

I have tried TI11 on a WinXP SP3 Dell system and the same problem occurs. So, I don't believe that this problem is system specific.

Is this TI 11 or TI 2011? Which build?

Could you either post a screen shot or jot down the exact way you have set up the task?

If you make a new task and run it manually do you get the same problem?

Assuming that your use of "Single version scheme" indicates version 2011 in use. The attached would be my preferance for your setting as it provides some flexibility if your change your mind in the number you want to keep.

Your suggestion did not correct the problem.

If I run the task to create a disk image backup of my C: drive, and use the backup name of CDriveWinImageSunFirst, a new full backup is created named CDriveWinImageFirst2. If I run the task again, I get a third new full backup named CDriveWinImageSunFirst3. And, so on. Also, I have tried shorter backup names like CDriveSFirst, but the problem continues with that different backup name as well.

I have uninstalled and re-installed TI2011 several times now on two different computer systems ( one is WinXP SP3 and the other Win 7). The result is the same. So, the problem is neither OS nor computer specific.

I am about done with Acronis TrueImage. I am not a programmer, but this seems to be a simple programming file name recognition and renaming code that Acronis should have perfected in their software by now.

What I was excpecting is that always have only one file and yes the name will change each backup to include the chain number.

If you are getting more than one file showing, recheck your parameters inside the custom backup scheme. Perhaps your settings were not saved.

If on re-installing 2011 you are getting file names with extra suffix digits this will be because the database has persistence. If TI2011 is auto poulating the tasks after install, you should delete all the tasks from within TI and then start again.

Are you able to make an image to another drive partition - as if you are using CD/DVD's as your imaging medium there is another complication in that the images will be given extra suffixes if they require more than 1 CD/DVD to complete the image.

It might be worth downloading the Acronis task zapper which will permanently delete the task form all versions that have been installed.

It would be really helpful if you could post some screen snips showing your task setup, just in case there is something being overlooked.
