I think I'll be sorry I asked...about SSD alignment
I have Windows 7 x64.
My primary drive (C) is a SSD (60GB) and my other drive is a non-SSD (300GB).
I have TIH 2011.
When I back up from primary to my secondary using TIH I use the disk backup option.
I use the bootable media CD I created to perform the backup and restore.
Backup runs fine - under 10 minutes.
PROBLEM: Restore runs 7+ hours.
The *.tib file is 24GB.
I sent an email to support and got back some reasonable explanations about compression and restoring from smaller to larger HDs and something about alignment...no suggestions as to what to do to resolve my issue.
However, this is where my ignorance comes in.
The problem appears to be something to do with alignment.
I sort of get it - things have to be aligned in 4K blocks and if they aren't then writes are terribly inefficient.
So...how do I know if my SSD is aligned correctly?
I did not install the OS as it was done when I purchased the machine.
Am I selecting the right options in the backup step to insure that the recovery file is aligned when I do a recovery?
Should I be backing up using TIH 2011 running on Windows instead of the bootable CD and using different options (partition versus disk)?
Or is this recovery time the new "normal" I need to get used to?
I know I did not have this issue when I did not have SSDs so it makes sense that the SSD is somehow at fault.
Or is this a limitation of TIH 2011 and I need to find other image backup / restore software?
Any insight is appreciated! Thanks.

Windows 7 is the only OS wvwe installed on tis machine. I looked up the specs for the SSD and it supports TRIM. I ran a command - "fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify" that returned "0" - that told me TRIM was active.
