Scheduled Backup Conversions to VM?

Thread needs solution

I am trying out True Image 2019 to see if it will meet my needs. Ideally, in the event of a catastrophe, I would like to be able to restore my system to a VM on Hyper-V within minutes.

To test my backup plan, I backed up my system with Acronis and converted the backup from .tib format to .vhdx format for use with Hyper-V. Unfortunately, the conversion process took over 24 hours to complete. In an emergency, I would need to be able to restore the system backup to a VM much more quickly, so I would need to have an updated .vhd file at the ready.

It appears that there is no way to have the .tib -> .vhdx conversion run on incremental backups so that an updated .vhdx is available for fast restoration of the backed up system in a VM?  I was previously using another solution from another vendor (StorageCraft) that could restore its backup file format that could run in VirtualBox instantaneously.

Is there another Acronis product that can do this? I have 1 workstation that I need for this.

Thanks.

Not that im aware of.

Short of a some other hardware failure, if a disk failed or the OS corrupted, restore your Acronis .tib backup to another hard drive and you can be back up in minutes. Im backing up about 100GB of OS, apps and data from PCIe NVMe to PCIe NVMe in about 6 minutes and recovery is just as fast. SSD isn't far off that pace either.

You can restore a physical backup to a VM virtual disk too. So long as OEM licensing isn't an issue. I'm using VMware though, but it works well. I would imagine you could do the same in hyper-v.

Not sure of your requirements or budget but you might want to have a look at and possibly consider Acronis Backup 12.5.  Intended for Businesses, it has the functionality I believe you are looking for.  For more look HERE

Thanks Enchantech, didn't realize Backup had the option!

Here's the specific portion about including automated conversion in the backup scheme.

Okay. Thanks.

This morning I installed the trial version of Acronis Backup 12.5. So far, I am very impressed by this product! It appears to have all of the functionality I am looking for and more.

Awesome!  Hope it all works out if you pick it up.  There are specific backup 12.5 forum threads too.

Glad to hear that 12.5 fits your needs with VM's.  Happy to have been of help to you. :)
