ATI2011 Update 1: Rescue Media Builder problem

Thread needs solution

I updated ATI2011 and PlusPack to the latest update (build 6574) and now Rescue Media Builder is graphically screwed up.

The graphics are messed up in a way I can't read anything. I can't see the components to choose for the media, can't see parameters, destinations, etc. It's hard to describe, but has anyone noticed anything weird about the Rescue Media Builder?

Works as designed, brrrhhhh

Can you post snip shots (W7/ Vista) or a screen shot (XP) of what you are seeing?

I have to emphasize that this is with the updated Plus Pack installed as well. Doesn't happen if you don't have the PP. I'll post snapshots when I get a chance.

I was able to reproduce this on a 2nd computer.  As soon as the updated Plus Pack is installed, the graphics on the media builder are messed up and it is practically unusable.

I couldn't reproduce this issue on a 3rd computer. The only difference being that the first 2 computers have an ATI video card and the 3rd one has an NVidia card. I guess I would update the ATI drivers to see if there's a difference. However, so far I have two computers where the media builder UI is messed up so that you can't see the options offered.

Well I have an ATI Radeon card, so although I'll be loading it in a VM for the moment, I might see the same problem as you.

I updated to the ATI drivers of Nov 17th and it didn't make a difference.

So following that, I ventured into other part of True Image and noticed that the GUI glitches are not contained to just the rescue media builder. If I go to "Mount Image", I get a window that is not readable. Same if I select "Clone Disk". I can't select a source disk as the GUI is messed up. "File Shredder" is even worse. The file drilldown system is really messed up and unreadable. And that's on two computers, but not on the 3rd one. Really strange.

Next step is to completely uninstall and reinstall.

Hi Marc,

The bad news is I can't replicate your problem when installing in W7 Ult 64 bit or Vista Ult 64 bit VM's. Now there are some differences, I had to uninstall the previous builds of 2011 as I was using a test build, and 6574 refused to install over the top.

Did you uninstall the previous PP and then install the latest build?

My video cards are ATI Radeon 5670 and 4290 the drivers are v8.762

Do you have Aero activated?

Clear Type?

Have you changed your system fonts from the default?

What size screens do you have and what resolution are they set at? Mine are an HP 19" @ 1280 * 1024 and a Fujitsu 19" Wide @ 1440 * 900

I had to uninstall the previous PP because it wouldn't update it. The setup would crash with "bad credentials" error. I have W7 64bit Ult on both machine with Aero on, cleartype on and no change to the default fonts. I have a dual-screen setup on both computers at various resolutions.

I'm gonna uninstall and reinstall everything.
